Lol I saw you tweet at him the other night. There were also a bunch of other funny responses.
I think his funniest bit last night is he was running with this narrative that Beard keeps yelling at Askew. There was one play in particular that he was criticizing when Beard wasn't even yelling at Askew but trying to hype him up on a fast break dunk. It's truly incredible what that guy has become.
True, I don't really follow volleytalk so I don't know what was said there.
This board has been pretty respectful in regards to Gabriel. Everyone here knows that she filled a major void when Shook didn't work out but I think there are valid questions about her size. Those type discussions are kind of the nature of sports boards but I think in a respectful manner it's fine.
Regardless, I hope Gabriel's health is fine and she finds whatever she's looking for outside of volleyball.
Yeah, I forgot about that. There is an advantage to adding another good setter so they have a year in the system in case Swindle isn't ready the following year.
I get the idea Elliott probably had some tough conversations with certain players but that's just a reality of the business. If Elliott made it known that SKT was going to start next year it probably played a role in Jhenna stepping away. As a player, I would prefer that honesty from a coach.
It's kind of wild how the transfer portal is changing college sports. Not that it isn't expected.
Texas could be starting a transfer setter, libero, outside hitter, and middle next year.
I think the only conclusion I've reached about this roster is I'm not a fan of the 3 guard starting lineup with Allen at the 4.
Carr, Ramey, Jones, and Allen doesn't work together. There are too many mouths to feed with that group of players and we're also way undersized.
I prefer this bigger lineup with 2 guards, Allen, Bishop, and Mitchell/Disu. I wonder what the minutes distribution looks like recently between the 2 guard lineups and 3 guard lineups?
I think having one of Cunningham and Askew on the court is a positive simply because they aren't scorers. As said earlier in the thread, we have too many guys that need the ball in their hands.
That's not really either of those guys. I get Askew runs point but he's not looking to score or really do anything offensively.
The Beard infatuation only reinforces my belief that Texas is in the head of everyone.
You would think Texas has one of the worst teams in the country by all these articles/tweets yet here we are with Texas at #15 in Kenpom, #12 in T-Rank, and #16 in NET.
Look at Michigan State in the last 3 games.
They lost at home to a below average Northwestern team, then beat a legit Wisconsin team on the road, and then lost to Illinois the other night without 2 of its best players.
And Michigan State is ranked in the top 10. It is pretty much everyone in CBB.
Beard owns Dixon more than any coach in the Big 12. He apparently beat Dixon in similar fashion at Tech.
I think it’s mainly Dixon and I can’t blame him based on the ass whoopings.
I personally think Texas matches up well with Kansas.
That bigger lineup of Allen, Bishop and Mitchell is going to give Kansas a ton of issues unless McCormack figures things out.
Kansas is the worst defensive team in the conference so Texas should be able to score on them.
My guess is 3-4 but I think people are overvaluing the top of the conference.
What makes this conference legit is there are no bad teams. The idea there’s about to be a major step up in competition from the front end of the Big 12 schedule seems to be a bit of a false narrative.
The schedule will definitely be tougher but a team like K-State was a play away from having 3 straight wins over Tech, Texas and Kansas. Texas has already been in a meat grinder so while the schedule will be tougher I don’t view it as a major step up in competition. You’re gonna play good teams every night in the Big 12.
I think I’ve changed my mind on Brock. While he obviously has limitations on offense I think he needs more minutes.
When Jones doesn’t have any offensive game going I would prefer to see Brock on the court. Better defender and rebounder.
