2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
There are definitely bigger issues but I don’t think numbers are going to be a problem. 1 or 2 DE/OLB, 1 safety, 1 interior DL, 1 more LB at the other positions. Texas can’t make those numbers work? This was one of the worst Texas defenses ever. There needs to be new players across the board.

Transfers should be prioritized on the defensive side of the ball. What do we need on offense? 1 OL, 1 good WR, and maybe 1 TE? I mean ideally the offense could probably use more than that but if we are taking let’s say 6-8 transfers a majority of those should be prioritized on defense.

I’m still not going to be shocked if Weigman’s eventual career path is baseball. Let’s see how the Spring goes with the baseball team. Weigman’s parents at one point were telling people he was going MLB. That’s why everyone thought that.

I agree with the Ojomo and Murphy part because I do think they’re talented/good players. We will have to agree to disagree on Sweat until he completely reshapes his body. The problem at DT/NT is that PK loves to rotate at that position. You need a lot of quality bodies there. Which is why they wanted Ridgeway last year and why I bet they still take an interior DL.

I don't know if he's been mentioned here but Taj Harris is another very good option. He hasn't put up eye popping numbers but he's a good player.

The three highest rated defensive players this year per PFF with at least 200 snaps were: 1) Barron 2) Ojomo 3) Murphy. If Collins stays inside I like that group with a transfer. There's some talent there between Ojomo, Murphy, Collins, and let's say the Washington transfer.

True he could still be gone. This is an interesting read.

Metchie is likely returning isn't he with the ACL injury? Then you have Holden and Bolden returning plus potentially adding Boutte. Time to jump in the portal JoJo.

Sounds like Marion is in play at Colorado to be the OC I guess?

Speaking of Murphy.

Yeah, I agree with Ricky above. About the only two interior DL I care about are Ojomo and Murphy. That's under the assumption that Collins isn't an interior DL. I've yet to see a plan on Collins. Is he playing jack or moving back inside?

Sweat and Coburn both looked better as FR. I don't know if this was a Herman, Orlando, or Yancy thing but several of our DL got way too big.

I can clip a bunch of terrible Broughton plays when I have time. He has no understanding of leverage at all and gets blown off the ball almost every play. This entire discussion reminds me of last season and so many people saying it made no sense to take Ridgeway. Ridgeway would have been the best interior DL on our roster and ask how Arkansas looked this year on the DL with Ridgeway manning the middle. If PK is still here he loves to rotate at DT/NT and we have maybe 1 or 2 quality players there.

I disagree. Obviously there were other issues but we were blown off the ball a ton. Especially Broughton (pretty much every down).

Sweat and Coburn had already regressed under Ash. It was discussed a ton on this board about how both got too big and fat under Herman. It turns out having an edge like Ossai makes you look at a lot better.

Collins has potential. He shows flashes which is definitely more than Broughton. But are we considering him an interior DL? PK was trying him at Jack this year or are they moving him back inside?

I should have included Murphy. I agree. This board has been bitching about how soft our interior DL is now they don't want to add an upgrade at the position. Sure thing.

Broughton was in year 2 and just straight up awful. I think it's too early to write him off but it would take a miracle for him to even be quality depth in year 3.

Broughton is awful. I don't even know how this is a debate. Sweat is a JAG at best. I agree we need more help at DE/OLB but the interior DL needs more quality players for next season.

We need to process some interior DL IMO. Sweat and Broughton aren't very good.

Yup, I'm expecting a lot of wildcat stuff with Ainias Smith and Achane.

Taimani is better than any interior DL on campus other than maybe Ojomo. He should be a take. We were giving Broughton reps this year so yeah get this guy.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting
WR recruiting wasn't good this cycle but it's not a position I'm terribly worried about next season if Sark can hit on one good WR in the portal. Sark doesn't really like to spread the ball around. He's gonna feed his 2 or 3 best WRs if they're good enough. Worthy and a quality WR 2 and things are cooking at WR. Now can Texas land a quality WR 2 in the portal is the question.

FYI Jimbo announced that Bost is starting the bowl game. I would definitely take Wake Forest in this game.

Yeah, plus I don’t think Jhenna is a better setter to begin with. She’s a great team leader that’s likable but play the more talented setter.
