From personal experience on that list, JHS Angry Charlie, or more specifically AT Drive, which is a suped-up Angry Charlie, and the Friedman BE-OD are some hard pipe-hittin' mofos with buckets of touch and nuance.

The family really digs Cthulhu: Death May Die, so for the quarantine I picked up the raddest episode for the game, R'lyeh Rising, which consists of a MASSIVE Cthulhu figure that also serves as the game board. I painted it up and we went through the episode tonight. If you're familiar with the base game you know how hard it is, but this episode, CMON terms it an "epic episode," was the hardest yet. I died in the 3rd round, and by the end, our party of 5 was dwindled down to 2, delivering the kill shot on their last legs. Epic indeed.

I've had and used an SR-16 since high school. The learning curve is never steep, and if you want, you can just roll with the standard patterns and fills to back you - Start/stop kind of stuff. If you have a simple footswitch laying around, you can use it to switch A/B patterns in real time like how Billy Corgan did in the early Smashing Pumpkins days (he just sold that actual SR-16 he used on Gish on Reverb a few years ago). It's surprisingly easy to get a good and inspiring backing drum track with that thing. And they are popular enough that you don't have to look far for a used one, and cheap too. Also, don't discount YouTube backing tracks.

That game looks epic. Never played a long form war game like that. In other news, met up with a friend at Dragon's Lair for a game of Nemesis. The game is pretty hot and rare right now and a few of the employees and many customers would stop and watch us play it. The crew at the next table were playing Photosynthesis, but would pause the game and watch us for bit before continuing. Cant blame them, the game looks cool on the table.

You just got 7th Continent?!? Very nice. Congrats. (It took us about 11 hours to complete the Voracious Goddess. I've heard it's the longest though. The kids have been clamoring to start the next one, so we'll probably do that in a week or so.)

Team Fantasy Grounds. Let's rumble! Got to meet up with@TexArcher today for some Scythe. I was reminded how much I like this game. Good people, good food, and a tie for the win, so not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. We need to do it again.- Remember Krispy Kreme/Froggy Fresh?

I'm outside of Elgin, so pretty much. And, yes, I'd be down for a board gaming action meetup. For sure. In other news, this was my gaming haul this Christmas. Still going through it, but looking forward to finally seeing what all the fuss is with Gloomhaven! I got Nemesis early so I painted it up and brought it over to the in-laws for the holiday. They think Monopoly is the height of board gaming technology, so needless to say their minds were blown. We stayed up until 4:00am playing! Back home, we played the game I was anticipating the most, Edge of Darkness. It's a blast. Very unique card crafting system with a bit of depth to the gameplay. Side note, I refuse to bring a game to the table until the minis are painted, but that takes an age to do right. So going forward I think I'll speed paint the nameless armies, but continue to do up the named characters and whatnot. Yolo, fam. Next up, Cthulhu: Death May Die. EDIT: Fucking Tapa.- These Go to 11 - The Guitar Amp Thread
Awesome amp! Congrats. No need for a standby switch. And apart from testing shit at the board level, there's no reason for a guitar amp to have a standby switch and there never was. There are safer ways to mute your amp without hot switching those bajillion volts. Standby switches are vestigial remnants of a design by a genius who liked to open up and monkey with the innards of his own amps impulsively - A guitarist should never need to drop the circuit into "standby." I realize we are guitarists and thus slaves to tradition, but I would suggest you worry more about which shop you intend to take your new amp to to have a wicked relic'ing job done to it. Spring for the coffee rings. You'll be glad you did.- These Go to 11 - The Guitar Amp Thread
