  1. What stats are you looking at? He;s second in receptions and everyone near him is already in or still playing. The only stat he seems to lack is touchdowns. The only real competition for the short term future is Gronk
  2. This was the first year for that. No idea why they thought it was a good choice
  3. Contributors are owners, GM's and others who are not in the other categories. This still doesn't help assistant coaches however
  4. And even though I'm thread jacking.... HOF absolutely needs to launch all the existing rules into the sun. They keep admitting they have a backlog problem and make changes to increase it. As of last night Current players - could be up to five but only four get in. With next years first year possibles of Gronk, Peterson and Roethlisberger anyone in the backlog is stuck for a few more years Seniors/Coaches etc - really pitiful. Lumping them together makes sure someone gets left out. In this case they could choose 3 so they only chose 1. If Belichik and Kraft come back next sure that leaves only one slot for a senior player. Garbage They need to have four categories - current players, seniors, coaches and then contributors. Minimum of five for players and seniors. Minimum of 2-3 for the other two. They also could consider a category for assistant coaches who never get in. Finally toss every current voter and start over. Have a selection committee of writers and players. No more of this crap where some 80 year old writer decides and can't remember anything
  5. Please read what I wrote. You are confusing todays rule (coaches retired one year). It became one year around 2024. In Lombardi's time it was 5 years. He didn't wait at all - they waived the 5 years to put him in early.
  6. Where in the world are you getting these "facts" from? Even AI could get them closer to reality. Lombardi retired in 1967 from Green Bay. At that time coaches had to wait 5 years - just like players. He went back to coaching Washington after 1 or 2 years but died before the season so he wasn't eligible for the HOF while living. They waived the waiting period for him so he went in in 1971. He didn't have to wait for anything while living
  7. What is going on in the middle of South Dakota
  8. The issue really isn't Greenwood. He is just one of many deserving seniors. The HOF sets the rules and for decades they absolutely did not care about anyone but current players. For a long time coaches or others (GM's etc) competed with current players for 5-6 slots. Obviously players got precedence. Then they moved to categories of current players, seniors and coaches/others. However they only allowed one from seniors and coaches. Then they decided they had a backlog and allowed 3 from each but only one group each year so you could have 3 seniors and 1 coach and the next year 3 coaches/others and 1 senior. Now they lump all of them together and allow 3 total. It's literally like they have idiots making up the rules and have no clue why the method doesn't work. I mentioned before but they keep referring to some stupid idea that more inductees means much longer induction times because of speeches. Turn the microphone off at 15 minutes. Good grief. There should be a minimum of 5 current players, 5 seniors and 3 coaches/others per year if they want to beat down the backlog. They admit they have a backlog and then change the rules to increase it. It's like the inmates at the loony house are setting the rules
  9. A different issue is that they know there are backlogs of deserving players and coaches and deliberately make rules that increase the backlog. Putting coaches and seniors in same category is perfect example. I mentioned it before but they have some stupid idea that speeches take too much time so they "fix" that by reducing people who give speeches. One idea I like is automatic HOF for meeting some criteria. Ten All Pro's or 250 coaching victories and you are in. No voting. They tried to work on backlog a few years ago by having something like 20 seniors and said they would never do it again. They really need to have something like 5 years with a minimum of ten people getting in. Tired of the stupid comment - if you are Hall of Famer you will get in (eventually). Put them in so they can enjoy it before dying
  10. Actually not forgivable. If you are going to run a "sting" operation you have a duty to make sure the details are covered. The NFL sent in their version of the Keystone Cops. No one knew temperature effected pressure. Didn't bother to check which gauge was used. Even more fun - the next year they "conducted" a study of the ball pressures at all the games to see if this really was an issue.. Except they quit the study half way thru and destroyed the results. Probably because they proved that nothing happened
  11. Do some research on deflategate. It literally was a witch hunt by NFL idiots that had no idea of the Ideal Gas Law. The NFL VP that supposedly was measuring the footballs has admitted he had no idea that pressure and temperature were related. Even some of their studies couldn't figure out that there was 14.7 psi difference between PSI - absolute and PSI - gauge. And they couldn't even figure out to use the same pressure gauge for before and after.
  12. Actually a valid point in article. The idiots in HOF can't claim innocence when they set up the current method that lumps groups together. And one of their stupid reasons is that they need to limit inductees since their speeches take too long. Good grief - what a joke. No one remembers the speech by the following week except a few coaches or family members. At 15 minutes turn off the microphone. They absolutely need to clean up the senior backlog and need to get an entire new group of voters that understand the importance and make the votes public.
  13. IIRC in baseball some absolute morons didn't vote Hank Aaron in on first ballot because they didn't believe anyone deserved that honor. HOF should immediately yank their future voting. Plus (heard this on radio so not my thoughts but I agree) this screws up this entire class because the focus will now be on Belickick and not the ones who made it. In addition it messes up future coaches since they now have to wait another year - assuming Belichick gets in next year.

  15. The next day is because they force the end users to do quality tests. Then they fix the fixes
  16. our coaches had a real/second brake pedal. I remember Coach Smith remarking he really wanted a second steering wheel. We also got to watch the blood on the highway series of films to convince us that you could indeed die.
  17. Cool. In 2023 I finally sold the 2001 I bought new. A few thoughts - front bumpers are hard to find in junkyard because it seems the 4Runner is in the yard because it hit something. On third gen 4Runners there are are only a few items that will really screw you up. The radiator has the trans cooler inside it. Good rule is to replace both and the lines every ten years or just move to an external trans cooler. Rear axle seals tend to leak but I think Toyota finally made a better seal. Only did mine once. Lower ball joints were not the most robust. I did mine at 12 years but yours may have been done with the lift. Not much else goes wrong that will hurt you. Timing belt but its a non interference engine. Valve covers leak after ten years or so. Not hard to replace but a pain to get to
  18. Not exactly passed by. He hasn't had a decent quarterback for years. Blame the GM for this mess. However when you never have losing record you aren't drafting top ten
  19. and I'm surly about it - so it fits here
  20. Every fall the local historical society sets up a cemetery stroll. The largest local cemetery in Alabama dates back to the 1700's. Various people including myself portray and discuss almost 100 of the people buried there. Went to the website to see the photos. Some clueless person decided to post about 100 photos - all in black and white.
  21. I have always said, in airports, if you wouldn't do it in your car - don't do it at the airport. No strolling thru passengers at 90 degrees, no sharp left turns to the gate that force everyone to dodge you.
