  1. There is no realistic upgrade here.
  2. There’s little to no evidence that lineup protection is actually a thing.
  3. They won’t trade Javier after just signing him to an extension. I’m not sure Urquidy brings much back. Trading Valdez is an interesting thought.
  4. PeƱa is basically a league average hitter who plays above average defense. If that’s the worst player in your lineup, you’re doing fine. He does need to regain his power, though.
  5. They need to sign another bat to replace Brantley, but otherwise the biggest upgrade is just letting Diaz catch 100+ games. Your lineup is then pretty well set.
  6. Tucker is under team control for a few more years. Maldonado will be a free agent, so no need to waive him. He will be easily affordable in money. But I don’t think the team can ā€œaffordā€ to keep him and have starters ask for him as their catcher, stunting Diaz’s growth and handicapping the lineup. Backup catchers are plentiful, just sign anyone else.
  7. Joe Maddon is just Dusty with an abrasive personality. Hard pass.
  8. I’d settle for not actively making the team worse.
  9. This take is so dumb. Compare that OPS to other CFs. Look at his wRC+. Look at his defensive metrics, which are above average. Oh, and he’s literally shown improvement every single year. Basically, every single thing you said is wrong.
  10. They have a top 10 (or better) CF already. It’s just the manager would rather give equal playing time to a utility infielder there.
  11. Which is what he said. Read it again.
  12. I don’t know that we’re not, actually. No one has looked dominant this year.
  13. I had Nashville hot chicken last week, and I can authoritatively say he sucks, now that I identify with the culture.
  14. What if he had special umpire pizza that gave him that insight?
  15. Not since the 20th century.
  16. I had Via 313 and woke up the next day rooting for the Lions.
  17. More accurate.

This is a reasonable answer. Thanks.

I’d like to understand the third way proposed by those objecting to the premise of the thread. Every detailed explanation of the supposed ā€œfalse dichotomyā€ so far has just been a defense of moral relativism. Which is one of the options in the poll. Im not sure what I’m missing.

So there aren’t objective moral facts in your view. The second option of his alleged ā€œbullshitā€ statement. I really don’t understand the reaction to this entire thread.

    If not angry, irrational.
  22. And Alvarez’s are better than either of them.
  23. I’d say that strongly implies multiple trips.
