And Chirinos was only 1 behind them (with more than Maldonado).

One is expendable. Both aren't. Especially if you want to limit Alvarez's time in the field.

I would not move him, personally. I think he profiles as an excellent 4th OF who sill still get a ton of playing time between Alvarez DHing and giving other guys a day off. I expect Meyers would be more likely to be traded, cashing in on his hot month and hoping that some other orgs are as high on him as Click was. He'd likely get a higher return in that scenario, and McCormick has already demonstrated he has a higher floor - it's probably the best for all parties.

I expect Brown to be aggressive in promoting him based on the Braves model. If he continues to crush, I wouldn't be surprised for him to be up this summer and to move one of McCormick/Meyers for prospects or a rental SP.

There's a pretty big difference between Bagwell acting as an extra hitting coach and serving as the de facto GM.

discussion- can someone explain predetermined game scripts to me?
I get everyone has PTSD from the start of the 2010 game, but I think that’s the only time he began with a bubble. (In fact, we didn’t even run that play at all for like the previous decade, cliche notwithstanding-we ran other WR screens, though, obviously.)

It would be nice if they’d play Diaz at 1B now since they won’t play him at catcher.

To be fair, Mendoza hit below .200 in 4 of his full seasons to merit the line being named for him, while Maldonado has never hit below .150. Yet. But .190 would be pretty accurate. Fun fact: Mendoza has the higher career batting average.

They should rename it the Maldonado line.

Meh. Despite hitting .300, Dubon is still easily the worst of the 3 options in CF, even without getting into advanced stats. He has the lowest OBP and zero power.

Diaz caught Brown until his last start, when Dusty said he wanted to be sure Maldonado had experience working with him too. Mysteriously, that same logic doesn't seem to apply to Diaz catching Valdez or Javier.

If you want to split hairs like that, he didn't say he was the best player. He said most important. And, for what it's worth, depending on what measure you use, it's a lot closer than you make it out to be. For instance, last year, Alvarez led the team in fWAR at 6.7, good for 7th in MLB. Right behind him, at 8th in MLB, was Altuve at 6.6. He was 4th in MLB in wRC+(Alvarez was 2nd). But then factor in that sort of production coming from 2B rather than a DH/LF. He's at worst the 2nd best player on the team, and the best 2B in baseball, as recently as last year.

Rank Big 3 cable news
I doubt this is true, actually. You should have made a poll. I share the general sentiment of the thread. I don't watch any of them.

I’ve seen several with this sentiment, and I just don’t follow it. Is it really unreasonable to expect a guy to honor his commitment once he’s already signed? It’s not like he didn’t have ample opportunity to rethink his decision before. For that matter, you don’t actually have to sign one at all. And it’s not like he wouldn’t have other options if he really didn’t want to come here-go play overseas or in the G league or sit for a year. I don’t know. I just don’t see how it’s “recruiting suicide” to suffer the consequences of your own actions.

With the off day on Thursday, they really wouldn’t have to use a different starter until next Tuesday, if they chose to go that route. Or not, should have finished typing sooner.

Yeah, that's the thing about the question asked earlier about a platoon with Meyers. Obviously, McCormick *has* to play vs. lefties. But even against righties, for all his supposed struggles, he's basically league average for his career, still significantly better than Meyers.

Texas Basketball 2023-24
It would make for a very different game. For starters, they'd be playing basketball on a field.

I don't think that's correct: "Is an NLI binding if the coach of my sport leaves the institution? Yes. The NLI you signed with an institution remains binding if the coach who recruited you leaves the institution with which you signed. When you sign an NLI, you sign with an institution and not with a coach or a specific team." NLI Binding Agreement FAQs (nationalletter.org)

I agree with this. He's already signed. That should have consequences.

I agree with pretty much everything here. Which is why it’s gonna be frustrating to watch Dubon start 3 times a week in CF once Altuve gets back.

Religion, weaponized religion, and the separation of church and state
I don’t think Twice is for taxing churches in general like you, but for removing the exemption for those who violate its terms, like this one.

To be fair, you’d miss a spectacular Helobiousing if you skipped this one. That’s a possibility on literally any thread at all, of course, but you never know which one.

That’s fair. I conflated your response with the post I initially responded to.
