I'd just like to see Abreu make a contribution by running a ground ball out.
Hopefully he'll take advantage of his day off today.
Edit: Abreu doesn't have day off. Shit
Adam Wainwright? You finally retired, after throwing 82mph fastballs and getting raked all year.
Dude, you played for 22 straight years. How bout spending some time with your family, or dog.
Do you really need to be doing color for Fox this soon after your last season? The body isn’t even cold yet.
Has anybody seen or heard Dusty’s postgame presser? I haven’t found it yet.
Surely a reporter would have asked why he didn’t pinch hit for Maldy in the 8th, especially after pulling Brantley out of game for a fresh runner.
I know we all know what his horseshit answer would be, but I think every now and then an entrepid reporter will ask him a decent question. Those questions that actually have substance, and usually elicit a defensive response from him.
It doesn’t happen that often. Just hoping it did. I like when he gets asked “hard” questions.
Let's go through some jarring stats that came out of that inning:
Kershaw allowed seven balls in play, and the softest hit was 96.7 mph, as measured by Statcast
It was the shortest start of Kershaw's career, regular season or postseason
Kershaw had previously never allowed six runs in a first inning
Only six pitchers in MLB postseason history had allowed more than six runs in a start of an inning or less
No pitcher in MLB postseason history, starter or reliever, had ever allowed five hits and five runs before recording an out (before Kershaw)
Has any team ever used a position player to pitch during an actual playoff game?
If I were Dave Roberts, I would have.
His horse Kershaw completely fucked up the entire bullpen.
Goddamn, that was hard to. watch.
Dave Roberts left the poor guy out there way too long.
I’d make sure Kershaw doesn’t have any alone time with sharp objects for at least a couple of days
