  1. Media embargo was lifted on this today. Didn’t read any of the full reviews, but I did see very good buzz about it.
  2. The photorealism they can achieve in something 100% digitally-rendered still impresses me. See this in IMAX if you have a chance. I enjoyed Way of Water on first viewing at Alamo, but seeing it at Bullock was on another level. That’s where I’ll be for this one, for sure.
  3. Hawaii HEBs must be a zoo right now. Especially the toilet paper aisle.
  4. Looked into it a bit more and from some post-event satellite images, looks like the cabins are still there. (believe Bubble inn is the one closest to the fork in the road)
  5. Was I correct in reading that the bubble inn and twins cabins are still intact, they were just totally inundated during the flooding? I think I saw a mystic mom saying that on instagram.
  6. I work at this girl’s school. Very sweet kid and family. What an ordeal to go through. And they’re some of the lucky ones…
  7. Looking forward to it. Read the book a few months ago after hearing positive buzz out of CinemaCon (and already loving The Martian book and movie). Really enjoyed the read, and also found myself wondering how they would translate much of it to film. Trailer reminded me of The Martian in its tone. I agree it would be nice if they didn’t reveal so much in a trailer, but these days they kind of have to. And understandably it really leans on Gosling. Hope he’s as good as Damon was.
  8. Freese has ice in his veins!
  9. That was a great save
  10. Nice! You don’t see the no-move save too often.
  11. Jaws 2 is underrated IMO. It can’t compare with the original but there’s still some good stuff, especially in the second half which plays kinda like a slasher film. The first half is a bit meh but Brody and Mayor Vaughan stuff is good. And the performance from the girl playing Tina when the Brodys find her is seriously chilling. (I watched Jaws 2 a lot growing up, I guess because we had it on VHS)
  12. Good for Keegan, but that’s just brutal for Fleetwood.
  13. LSU with three baseball NCs plus two in football since our last in either sport. Would love to start turning that around.
  14. “Day by day…by day…oh dear lord..three things we pray…”
  15. “Everything is fucked except the great success I just did”
  16. Absolutely one of my favorite movies. And despite his prolific and brilliant career, still arguably Spielberg’s best achievement given the circumstances of the production, his age, etc. I’ve watched the making-of docs many times, but if you haven’t, here’s one to check out (in regrettably low video quality; just get the blu-ray)
  17. Arky, wow
  18. How did he not go for 2?
  19. The one is up. And SXSW HQ also has their lights in orange
  20. Some of our other favorite UT student athletes enjoying the game last night. I spy Swindle, Halter, et al from volleyball. Lance Jackson on the left?
  21. Early August I would guess
