TIL the Shank can't handle a big brisket. This is indeed a dark day for humankind. Just goes to show--be careful when picking your heroes.

Israel vs everyone war thread
They should consider re-homing the Palestinians to Kingman, Ariz. I'm sure they'd be well received there.

Grammar, etc.
Forgive me, I'm very rusty at this, but here goes: (inhales deeply) "Has" is conjugated for "people" because it is part of a dependent clause that serves as a predicate noun and subject complement, not a direct object. "Are" is a linking verb, not an action verb, so "people" in this instance cannot be a direct object. "We are" represents the subject and verb and is a complete sentence. The predicate noun, "people," further defines what the subject is. The rest of the noun phrase "that has experienced something epic together" directly applies to the predicate noun "people," so the verb "has" should be conjugated for it, not the sentence subject "we."

NBA 2024-25 Season Thread
Sucks to learn Chet was seriously injured on that play. Wiggins did the right thing, imo. Even if Chet had blocked him, going hard to the hoop like that likely gives Chet pause before stepping up in the future. But a pelvic fracture, damn, that's rough. Watching Holmgren and this young OKC team develop has been very entertaining--hope to see him healthy soon! Draymond, on the other hand, should be out of the league. It's just stupid at this point. So sick of his chickenshit antics. Wish Dort would have let one fly and broken Dray's jaw.

Fuckin' Overshown, man. He's outshining the entire Cowboys organization.

¡Snek!
Caught some of his videos a couple of years back. He was so absurdly cavalier that I felt compelled to leave a comment that his practices would be inevitably fatal. Doesn't feel particularly gratifying to be correct in this context.

What are you using for paprika?
I use paprika for my paprika. Others have tried to talk me into substitutes, such as dehydrated bamboo concentrate, coal dust, fly ash and even machine filings, but I always come back to my red master, paprika.

Eh ... I feel Terry gave Horton way too many minutes last season.- Suzanne Simpson, the disappearing San Antonio realtor (UT alum)
I've never understood this. If you truly love someone, you want them to thrive and be happy ... even if that love is not reciprocated. Yet there are many instances of parents killing each other and/or their children when life goes against their wishes. Those who aren't murdered become irreparably damaged. I guess what I'm saying is people like this don't really love. Their only thought--their only true concern--is for themselves. There are too many Brad Simpsons in this world.- John Williams documentary on Disney+
Sure, by the time Toto had jumped the shark. The heavy vocal lifting on all of Toto's best tracks came courtesy of Bobby Kimball.- College Hoops 2024-25
No.2 'Bama struggling against Arkansas State. 73-70, Tide, with about 5 minutes left.- Texas vs Houston Christian 7pm on ESPN+
There are a lot more bona fide scorers than last season, including the best we've seen on campus since KD (yes, I think I'm already going to put Tre up there). As much as the lack of defensive effort frustrated me in the first half, the second half was very encouraging. Texas was much more aggressive and attentive. Other positives: only seven turnovers (to 17 for HCU), more offensive rebounds despite shooting 23% better, and better shot selection (a third of our attempts were from deep). I'm gushing at this point, but I can't say enough about Tre Johnson. He was hyped up quite a bit but I still feel like he's been better than advertised.- Texas vs Houston Christian 7pm on ESPN+
Got dam, Tre Johnson is amazing. But the game is practically ovah and he should not be on the floor. Re: Onyema, given Shedrick's injury history, I've zero issue with Ze'Rik getting minutes in games like this. But once it gets down to brass tacks, I agree--he's only in there for fouls or if there's no other option.- Texas vs Houston Christian 7pm on ESPN+
I knew what was coming. You're doing the lord's work, koopa.- 43 monkeys escape South Carolina research facility
If there were 12 of them, and if they coordinated well enough to form some sort of army, I'd be worried.- Hey Steel Shank!
He gets high on two, And with the grease they contain They'll slide right on through!- Texas vs Houston Christian 7pm on ESPN+
Only thing I'll bitch about this early in the season is defensive effort. Ohio State got every look they wanted (and made most of them) and HCU is not struggling to score. Our 'Horns are going to have to ratchet up the intensity if they want to have a winning conference record.- Texas vs Houston Christian 7pm on ESPN+
