  1. I would also point out that a team's highest positive numbers should be now, right out of the gate. That happened with premier league and it makes sense given people are living their lives elsewhere without the protocols of UT campus. Not saying this can't all come crashing down before anyone even puts pads on, but I expect the new positive number will drop to near zero quickly and stay there all summer. For us and just about every power-5 team.
  2. Disney did say they would allow teams to move into nicer lodging if they advanced. Probably not worth the effort or risk screwing up their karma at that point
  3. Not a big deal, MLB changed terms too when they demanded no grievances. Players probably know they can get a few more games if they agree to that point. It's happening, they basically fucked us out of two weeks of regular season but apparently expanding playoffs a bit.
  4. Sixers stuck at Grand Floridian, which made news a couple years ago when an alligator ate a 2-year-old boy in the lagoon
  5. I don't get the accusation of owners stalling at this point. Or if they are stalling, I don't see the purpose of it. It's mid June and they would need at least a month between striking a deal and playing a regular season game. MLB could easily have a 54-game schedule ready to go from like July 20-September 27. Build in extra off days for mass testing and deep cleaning the facilities. Also need off days down the stretch for rain makeups since there could easily be teams tied for playoff spots. No arbitrator would blame MLB for doing that, even if their true intention is to limit number of games played. But MLB doesn't seem to have a card to play right now, simplest explanation is incompetence.
  6. Yep, they ain't voting anyway
  7. Can't believe it's not obvious to many people that this was about TIMING. In April, the Gundy OANN love was laughed off when he was more explicit than just wearing a t-shirt. But since then, we've seen multiple white-on-black murders in broad daylight on video. Millions of people took to the streets worldwide in protest. OANN consistently demonizes the protestors and their cause, and airs propaganda for Trump and law enforcement. So even though it's just a t-shirt, wearing it today is more inflammatory now than Gundy's comments in April. Just wearing that shirt is a slap in the face of everyone who believes in the BLM cause, and that's kind of a big PUBLIC story these days. Talking it over in private doesn't get Gundy off the hook.
  8. I know it's unlikely, but would be nice if national media press Gundy about OAN this season. Mike Leach gets asked about pirates, Ogeron gets asked about gas station food, why not have Gundy expound in great detail why he's such a fan of OAN? And if "they don't bring all the drama" is the answer, there needs to be some follow ups to that
  9. Some PR statements no one will see; pay Van Jones or someone like that to come speak to the team; do community service they would have done anyway; maybe run out of the tunnel with a "Black Lives Matter" flag. It's over Chuba, good luck in the NFL, we shouldn't hate on you for not being a savior as it seemed you might be for a couple hours today.
  10. Wow, they got the black guy to apologize for not keeping it in the house Textbook abusive relationship plays out before the eyes of the nation
  11. Wonder if that means virus claims, or simply can't sue MLB for revenue (or both)
  12. The elephant in the luxury suites is how beloved Gundy is and will continue to be among their fans and donors. It's not just an OK State problem either, I wish today's players would start asking hard questions about the general racial environment that sustains so many top programs.
  13. Confederate memorial in Pioneer Park Dallas has been approved for removal. There's supposed to be a BLM rally there around now (4 pm CT), and also Dallas Sons of the Confederacy were planning to protest and encouraged their members to bring guns. I don't see anything on Twitter so hopefully all is well
  14. Gladbach Bayern Munich piped in loud fan whistling after a Gladbach goal was disallowed. Nice Then Bayern handed the opening goal on a foolish keeper turnover
  15. Ah, I missed that they were not mass testing like some others, that is indeed reckless. But point remains there is plenty of time for correction, and this could spur other cheap-ass schools to take it more seriously.
  16. And I wonder if Abbott told the ADs that message or vice versa
  17. I wouldn't read much into the UH situation, give them credit for being cautious. I think the Premier League had around six positives on the first round of testing, and they had it down to zero including staff members within a couple weeks. They've had a handful since then as the season is about to start with no major issues. CFB teams are several weeks away from having meaningful practices, so there is plenty of time to get everybody in and tested. Being college sports, there will be shenanigans and probably virus sparks popping up in every conference. Looks like that will be life in 2020...cross your fingers (after washing) and hope it works out.
  18. All kinds of excuses going around. I bet they just can't fathom being confined to a single massive resort for ~6 weeks with no family or females around. Especially at a non-luxury resort. NBA will have to re-think the "bubble".
  19. I'd be shocked if they do temp checks at major stadiums. They cost money and aren't totally reliable. Can you imagine some minimum wage or maybe even health care volunteer telling a five-figure donor he can't go to the game because the gun says he's got a fever?
  20. Ah, the Cosmo. So much for the craps table spacing rules. How long until the dealers get to scrap the masks too, I wonder. Posting that again with the intro from Seth Myers' writer...
  21. Like Louisville with the stripper parties, we can't prove it was more than one coach acting out, but it falls on the school not to hire guys who behave that way (taking bribes to influence amateurs on their pro decisions). I admit what specifically Evans did with the money is unclear, so this has a chance to reverse on appeal.
  22. I mean, this is in the NCAA's wheelhouse - coach caught red-handed taking bribes for the purpose of directing the money of amateur players who would turn pro. It's silly but explicitly not allowed. This isn't like the assistant was selling fake Rolexes on the side for his own benefit. Also, the NCAA has rightly been dismissing the "acted on his own" excuse for several years now. You can't just take the head coach's word for it, especially when he just hired an assistant whose brother happens to be the No. 1 recruit in the US. Again, it's silly and it happens everywhere but this is what the infractions guys gobble up when they have solid proof. That said, it would also be typical NCAA to reduce the penalty on appeal. That way they won't look as bad when KU also doesn't get banned.
  23. City of Philadelphia is encouraging protesters to get free COVID tests a week from now, and they only need to say they were exposed to someone with COVID. No need to mention the protests...good move, hope it catches on anyplace where the HCW have enough tests
