College Football in 2020 in danger?
If you want to be optimistic, I'd say you're counting on: drug(s) become available which hasten treatment/release of positive patients; and increased serotonin testing which allows former positives to re-enter the world more quickly. Also need improved nationwide social distancing in the near term. And probably the NCAA and power conferences to not be anal pencil-pushers when it comes to things like eligibility, practice times, etc. All of that could certainly happen. Unfortunately we might need to see some Italy-type scenes over here to wake everyone the fuck up

College Football in 2020 in danger?
I don't think the empty stadium thing will fly. Too many people involved including players, coaches, med staff, officials, TV personnel, facility staff, media and security. If that number of people (my guess is at least 500-600) can get together, it probably means fans would be OK too. The problem is, I keep reading about hospitals expecting peak demand not to hit until mid-May or later. That means even if the curve comes down quickly (it won't), conditions will not allow campuses to open in time for late summer sessions. That means no facility use, no practice, etc. And pretty much means no games unless they push the season into February somehow. I think it's too early to say it's likely to happen, but I don't blame anyone for preparing for the reality of no 2020 football.

Your top 10 albums, no order
Grew up in the 80s so my formative five were probably: Springsteen, Born to Run Van Halen I Duran Duran, Rio Springsteen, Born in the USA U2, Joshua Tree Then I zoned out of music for like a decade, and was reborn with my internet-era five: Postal Service Death Cab for Cutie, Transatlanticism Arcade Fire, Funeral The Eminem Show The National, Trouble Will Find Me (I was a bit late on them)

College Football in 2020 in danger?
Dan Wolken at USA Today has been sending up flares about this for the last week or so, saying that while no one is in panic mode, they are absolutely starting to prepare for the possibility of a reduced or canceled season. Wolken wants more coaches to get on camera and tell fans, "If you want a 2020 football season, you need to stay home for a few weeks right now." I agree, though it didn't seem to work in Louisiana. The vibe I've gotten from most sports is there is not much appetite for playing in empty stadiums just for TV. If it's safe enough to play the games, they will let the fans in. Probably lots of hand-wash stations. It all depends on the famous "curve". If it's still high or in rollercoaster mode this summer, schools won't even open for class and the FB season will be impossible. We'll probably be able to make decent guesses in about a month. (A safe early guess is Notre Dame-Navy won't be playing in Dublin in week zero.)

House concerts
Ben Gibbard says he'll go every day at 4 pm PT for two weeks. His "Covers" one (not below) finishes with Def Leppard "Hysteria" followed by the "Skeletons come to life" song from I Think You Should Leave (Netflix). Also here is some yet-to-be-released War on Drugs from the house of Adam D

CR: COVID-19 --Political Talk
There's still a few days for this anti-social distancing wave to go the way of the "let's not watch the NFL" wave. They were so bold and proud at first, then realized so few people were on their side, not even their usual nutcase buddies. And sanity was restored. This is a tougher case because there are policy- and law-makers leading the rush off the cliff...but seems like sanity has a few days to make its case, and the evidence is only going to keep growing...

I doubt there's any place in the country you can't or won't be able to do this. Walking/running/biking for exercise is permitted, they're not gonna pull cars over for no reason

USWNT 2020
Good points, I don't know where they've played but it makes sense they would cash in by bringing teams up here. Though I would think the USMNT could do the same thing - wouldn't Bolivia or whoever want the paycheck for the men as well? I do recall the women having to cancel games pretty recently because of field conditions like astroturf that was coming apart. I'm no expert, I just smell a rat in regards to how much value USWNT obviously generates for US Soccer compared to what they're paid. Also not sure what harm it would cause to create a structure that can at least be labeled "equal" for the two national teams in terms of salary. It probably wouldn't be dollar-for-dollar because the men's sport is larger and they have to play more games, travel, etc. But to create some sort of equal structure probably wouldn't cost a ton...it's like 20-25 players.

USWNT 2020
The sketchy countries/pitches argument is probably weaker than the genetics argument. The women likely face harassment and dangerous conditions in pretty much any country they visit, and I can't imagine the facilities aren't worse than the men. The crux is definitely the fact that the men's game worldwide is far more lucrative and you shouldn't punish USMNT for taking the money. But nothing says some of that can't be used to elevate the pay of the women to something that can be labeled as "equal". They're all under the US Soccer umbrella.

USWNT 2020
Team is a money-making machine and no reason to expect that to change even as the rest of the world catches up talent-wise. Coke, Visa, Budweiser and Deloitte publicly took the players' side last week. There is a NASCAR-like passion and loyalty around the country, including a lot of wealthy shoppers. I saw tweet a while back that FIFA was considering holding the women's WC every two years, which I think would be a great idea. But I never saw any follow up and obviously the entire sport is sidelined worldwide for a bit now.

Better Call Saul. Not coming back until 2020
A little different vibe to that episode. The intro was straightforward plot, and the end scene wasn't terribly dramatic. But things are definitely moving forward. Kim's impersonation of Kevin was amazingly accurate.

Same with Philly. Restaurants can do take-out and delivery, but I wonder how sustainable that will be other than the small ones that operate that way to begin with

I'd say option 2, but it could definitely lead to legal action from the bottom clubs. I haven't looked at their schedules, but it's certainly plausible that a bottom three team could jump up. As bad as shit is in Europe right now, options 3-4 might not even be feasible. I don't blame them for buying time at the moment.- COVID-19 and Basketball thread
Like I said, I can't really think of a school that wouldn't do it in some fashion. Some would be over the top like UCF football a couple years ago, a school like KU probably try to be more technically correct. It's about recruiting now and in the future. A few years from now, when some kid meets "former national champion Devon Dotson" on his visit, it won't matter that the internet made fun of them.- NCAA Tourney canceled
The sports sites should start posting blank brackets from past years to see how good everyone's memory is. Obviously no money on it because cheating would be pretty easy. I'd probably still have a ton of red ink, even in the later rounds. - Mythic Quest: Ravens Banquet (Apple TV+)
