I counted 3 holds on my screen at the same time early in that play. I freeze-framed it at the time - 2 grabbing and tugging the jersey and one blocking the defender to the ground.
He ran really well today. I saw one part of his game that needs work though - YAC. I don't know if that can be coached or if he just has to get more experience and carries. It seemed like he went down on the first contact nearly every run. I saw him break 1 tackle and went down on the 2nd contact a couple of yards later. I mean his average yards per carry were over 5 so that is really good, but imagine if he can break more tackles or learn to stay on his feet more often.
He might get more yards if Sark puts Blue in with him a few times to force the D to focus on both of them, but again he went over 100 yards and looked good. I won't complain about that at all - I just wonder if he can get better in that aspect.
Just found the ESPN stats. He played at Iowa State, Tulsa, SMU, and Arkie State. Now BYU.
OU is panicking. At WVU they brought in Davis Beville instead of Arnold - for the redshirt. I wonder why they didn't do that again?
One of the clueless announcers just said something about OU burning Arnold's redshirt, and then one of them said what a way to be introduced to big-time college football.
So is this Arnold's first game or not? If it is, his redshirt is nut burned.
Everything about that (post interception anyway) was amazing. JW missing the tackle, getting up and stripping the ball, and X flying back down the field to end up getting the ball that was supposed to be his in the first place. Sheer determination from both of them. I haven't seen a play like that from the Horns in quite a long time.
I saw a stat on the LHN crawl earlier today that said this is the first Longhorn team since 2009 that has held an opposing team under 100 rushing yards 4 weeks in a row. Yeah - they suck.
Didn't Sark start giving him punt or kick returns - until he started trying to return everything? He was returning kicks he 100% should've fair caught. Maybe the bad decisions combined with bitching on twitter/X was the last straw.
Hopefully Sark told him before the game to not try to scramble or save a play if something goes wrong - throw it away and move on. The fewer hits on Quinn the better while he's still healing. Quinn did jut get that ball and toss it away like he didn't even have to think about it.
