I agree completely (about your whole post, but this part in particular). My only point has been that indictments or even convictions aren’t going to solely do the job of flipping the script. That focus still has to be on the election. And of course Trump faces new and much more consequential headwinds this time ‘round, but given the magnitude of the threat, it’s not doomsday to simply say “leaving fucking NOTHING to chance.” Shift his chances of victory from the realm of “possible” to “get fucked, fatso” and do so with extreme prejudice. No mercy. And no assumptions that anything changes the script materially except for more votes (or states, more accurately) for Biden than for Trump next November.

Y’all remember in 2016 when most sane people believed a solid (albeit deeply flawed) candidate “couldn’t lose” to a fat orange criminal buffoon? I ‘member.

do you ever yearn?
It’s my medical opinion that you’re making a big mistake. And it’s going… in my chart.

That’s about as well said as I’ve ever heard on the issue. Bravo.

The underlying point to all of, well, everything is that nothing matters if Trump is elected in 2024. There is no armchair quarterbacking, hindsight, or prediction about anything at all that even slightly mitigates the fact that Trump will be the GOP candidate and therefore has a chance to become president - no matter what else happens. All the energy spent wondering “what if” should instead be spent laying foundations for an overwhelming voter turnout initiative for the good guys. Beat him in 2024 is the only sure way to save our country.

The Boat Fanatic Thread
I had an FJ 60 about which I thought the same thing…. Right about until the time it’s new owner got to the end of my street and never looked back. Of course, I didn’t have a new boat to turn to, so YMMV.

I think it’s a colostomy bag for when he lifts heavy.- do you ever yearn?
No, I cannot! It's serious! Because it's very important piece.- A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
Slowly steps back an inch from the ledge….- Tell me about New York City
This seems like the right thread. It’s been years since I’ve been to Sardi’s but it’s always a fun time for a drink if it’s not full tourist season. This feels like another piece of old New York gracefully slipping away and it makes me happy for the couple of decades I’ve been a part of this town. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/01/nyregion/sardis-bartender-joe-petrsoric.html Cue Seinfeld Tony Award episode clips…..- do you ever yearn?
And you look like you could use a - Jerry!- do you ever yearn?

If only I had $8-10k just sitting around……- Tell me about New York City
Check the rates at the Conrad Tribeca. It’s south but a great spot and easy access to all of Manhattan. And also just a great easy family hotel.- Former NJ Governor Chris Christie
…however slim…. Nice.- The Drums Pron Thread
In cases, if she’s touring or gigging heavily, skb or gator hard are good. On the kit - and I say this with full humility as a gear head - y’all are overthinking it. Consider the wood and configuration you want and weigh in some reputation… but ultimately get the kit you love. Any drum set in the $2500-4k range is going to be as amazing as you could want. And only ever as amazing as how you tune it and until you play it until your hands bleed and your heartbeat skyrockets. Buy drums. Rock drums. Then we can talk hoops and offset lugs and shit. PS - just based on what I “know” of you, your taste musically, and your daughter’s potential plans, I’d go Ludwig all the way. Super versatile, excellent quality American build and, to G650 comment, maple shells that can be both as maple or as attack-y as you want.- The Drums Pron Thread
I’d go Yamaha, then Ludwig, then Sonor but the last is pricey. Gretsch are also great but I haven’t spent too much behind them and think Ludwig is their parallel but have the edge (no pun) on overall fit and finish and they have sharp wraps and finishes (since I seem to recall you prefer wraps). Yamaha is - in my opinion - the gold standard for mid-pro and upward. Incredible sound and versatility and fit/finish. Their hardware is excellent. That said they aren’t the creative and expansive with range of finishes. DW makes great drums but Pacific are just about as good, half the price…. They just don’t have every drummer in the world as an endorser and stratospheric marketing budget. C&C also make really beautiful drums but that also might bump to a new budget level.- Show me your old Tacos (4Runner, FJ, Landcruiser, bronco etc)
I had a 40th anniversary that held its paint for years. Others not so much. Also had an 83 fj60 and 03 fj100 both of which had to be repainted. Multiple times on the fj60. Regarding tires on the sequoia, the one I saw was much better proportionally than the old model but I’d still go bigger before driving it. And it’s bigger in real life than I was expecting. Nearly seemed LC sized, just a little skinnier. But I haven’t been up close to or sat in one. Yet.- Show me your old Tacos (4Runner, FJ, Landcruiser, bronco etc)
I will say I just saw my first TRD Pro Sequoia in the wild (in orange) and it is damn good looking truck.- RIP Sinead O'Connor
I’ll just add that listening again to it after a while, “Last Day” is just a Molotov cocktail of a song. Goddamn.- RIP Sinead O'Connor
Truly one of a kind. I was involved a few years back with a big initiative involving the Prince estate and a production using “Nothing Compares” and we were then peripherally sampling some things from Sinead’s published recording - nothing she was involved in by that time but we were given some audio splits of her in the sessions for her recording of it and holy shit she had a voice that could punch through walls. Just unbridled intensity paired with a voice that was pitch perfect and dialed in. So many great songs have been mentioned but one I always thought was most poignant and also had a stellar minimalist drum track was “last day of our acquaintance” A powerful, troubled talent. RIP- Show me your old Tacos (4Runner, FJ, Landcruiser, bronco etc)
