  1. Hi UT Tennis Fan, It was a special night yesterday in Dallas, as our guys showed tremendous Texas Fight and earned the first National Team Indoor Championship in program history! Here is a full recap, including video of championship point! If you missed the match, you can watch the entire broadcast (which was very well done), including previews, interviews and the celebration by clicking on this youtube link. Unfortunately, we only have about 24 hours to enjoy the win, as we are hitting the road again very soon for opening play in our SEC schedule. We will take on Alabama on Saturday, and then head to Starkville to take on Misssissippi State on Monday. I will be back in touch again later in the week or early next week. Have a great weekend, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  2. John Isner, a former Georgia Bulldog/former pro player, throwing up the horns!
  3. I still stick with early assessment of these Freshmen. 😉
  4. Didn't Baylor have 3 top 10 wins prior to the Texas match? Baylor is underrated
  5. Hi again UT Tennis Fan, Our team had another outstanding performance last night, and took out Baylor 4-0 (full recap) to advance to tonight's National Team Indoor Final in Dallas. We will now take on Ohio State for the Championship. Please come out to support us if you are anywhere in the state of Texas! We will need all the help we can get! The match is set for 6:30 pm at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on the campus of SMU. Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  6. Yes, indoor champions. It'll most likely be streamed again on YouTube at 6:30. https://www.youtube.com/live/jX_d9278ih8?si=OQ9UYfCsqZb_tIvf
  7. Hi UT Tennis Fan, We had another great win tonight over an in state rival, this time 4-3 over #5 TCU in the National Team Indoors Quarterfinal (full recap). Now it is on to Dallas, where we will take on Baylor (who upset Wake Forest) in the semifinals on Monday night at 6:30 pm. The match will take place at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on the campus of SMU. If you are in the Dallas area, or willing to drive over, please come out to support the team! Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  8. What was the drama at the end of Baylor's match? Looks like the crowd got involved.
  9. Check youtube for live streaming
  10. Looks like Texas for the 1st time this Spring will be fielding their best lineup. Hopefully doubles doesn't affect the singles lineup.
  11. Good morning UT Tennis Fan, We had a very good 4-2 win over Texas A&M yesterday in the round of 16 at the National Team Indoor Championship. Down a few players due to injury, and down the doubles point, our guys stayed tough and won 4 of the first 5 matches off the court to seal the win. For the complete recap, please click here. We will be back at it today to take on TCU in the quarterfinals at 12 pm at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center on Baylor's campus. We know that TCU has a lot of fans here, so if you are within driving distance, we would sure appreciate you coming out to support us. Thanks for your support, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  12. And no Oliver in singles
  13. Withought Kalin and Lucas.... :/
  14. Hi UT Tennis Fan, Our team had a good performance against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday (match recap), and now we are preparing to play the Aggies tomorrow at 12 noon in Waco in the first round of the National Indoors. Please click here for a full preview, including information about tickets, and streaming. If you are within driving distance of Waco, we would sure appreciate seeing some burnt orange in the stands. We can't let the Aggies have more fans than us!! Meanwhile in Dallas, Eliot Spizzirri picked up where he left off after the Australian Open, and played his way to a straight sets win yesterday in the 1st round of the Dallas Open (an ATP 500 event). Eliot is now ranked #65 in the ATP live rankings. He will now take on Jack Pinnington Jones in the 2nd round. Congratulations are also in order for Lloyd Glasspool, who won his doubles match in Great Britian's Davis Cup win over Norway. Although Cleeve Harper lost a tight 3 set doubles match, he was part of Canada's 3-2 win over Brazil. Congratulations Lloyd and Cleeve! Thanks for your continued support, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  15. A&M lost to #20 Baylor last night, 1-4. I felt like A&M wasn't deserving of being ranked #8 by looking at their wins prior to last night.
  16. Anastasia Abbagnato has beaten the #7, #12, and #40 ranked players and lost to #61 thus far this Spring. She has a 3-1 record. Carmen Herea has beaten the #15 and #29 ranked players and lost to #49 thus far this Spring. She has a 4-1 record. Christasha McNeil has beaten the #56 and #123 ranked players but have lost to 2 unranked players. She has a 3-2 record. These records do not reflect Duke's match scheduled later today. This team could be a top 10 team if other players can pick up their games which is asking for a lot with this roster.
  17. Circling back "to cut Jeremiah Braswell" comment. To cut him because there isn't any room for him or to replace him with a more competitive player? He'd be the 9th player after this Spring but he was a 4 star recruit, I believe, which isn't really the caliber type recruit for Texas.
  18. I wonder if Kate Mansfield who hasn't played this year is any better than any of those in the lower lineup. I wonder if she's hurt, redshirting, or is just not going to break the lineup.
  19. Hi UT Tennis Fan. We went on the road last weekend to play #2 ranked Ohio State and lost 4-1 (full recap). We won at #3 doubles, as Oliver Ojakaar competed for the first time this season, but came up short in the other two matches. In singles, Sebastian Gorzny picked up a straight set win at #1, Abel Forger was up a set, and Sebastian Eriksson was early in the 3rd set when the match was clinched. Unfortunately we had a few setbacks with injuries in that match, but we believe we are inching closer to full health. We are now home and preparing to play Texas A&M Corpus Christi this coming Saturday at 1 pm at the Texas Tennis Center. We expect warm weather and are hoping for some support to help us get back to winning ways before we head to the National Indoors next week. Our first two matches will be in Waco (beginning Friday, the 13th), with our opponent and schedule to be announced early next week. Depending on how we do in our first two matches our 3rd match will be either Sunday in Waco or Monday in Dallas. Our record for the year is now 4-3, with our 3 losses coming to the current #'s 1, 2, and 3 ranked teams in the country. We still believe we have what it takes to challenge for conference and national championships this year, and our focus is on getting healthy and of course making the improvements needed to compete for the big prizes. Thanks for your continued support! Have a great weekend, and hope to see you Saturday! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  20. Oliver and S. Eriksson just defeated the #3 team at line #3 doubles but OSU took the doubles point.
  21. I see Oliver Ojakaar back in the lineup in doubles against Ohio State. That should help the team.
  22. Hi UT Tennis Fan, We just arrived in Columbus, Ohio to prepare for our match against Ohio State at 6 pm eastern time on Friday. A full preview should be available on our homepage sometime tomorrow. If you go to that site now you will see this press release on Sebastian Gorzny being named SEC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week! Speaking of last week our team did a great job to pick up 4-0 wins over UNC Wilmington and South Florida to earn a spot in the National Team Indoors in a few weeks. For more details, please click on this recap of the South Florida match. After Friday's match vs Ohio State, we will return to Austin to take on Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday, February 7 at 1 pm. Thanks for your continued suport! Have a great rest of your week, and Hook'em! , Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  23. I thought I read that the SEC will only allow 10 on the roster. Any truth to tha? There are obviously more than 10 in that pic. I do know that Jeremiah Braswell is red shirting this Spring.
  24. I believe he's enrolled and has been with the team this Spring thus far. He's still waiting for the NCAA'S verdict, apparently.
