  1. Cycling is much more quad specific than running. Look at the world class cyclists then the distance runners. The burn should go away in time.
  2. Yep that’s where cycling is different than running.
  3. You might also look for a group ride to go out with, to help you learn some of the do’s and don'ts of road riding. Hang at the back and watch what they do and how they interact. My current favorite thing about riding is the group I ride with.
  4. @Basil I’ve done both of those things. Knees are gone now so no more running for me. Your lungs should translate over. The leg muscles don’t exactly match up but you should adjust fairly quickly. What others have said is true. All the points at which you touch the bike need to be carefully adjusted. A thirty minute run translates to a two hour ride, so you find areas of your body that hurt that didn’t running, like your lower back for instance. You just need time in the saddle.
  5. It’s too bad the egg roll stands on the drag got busted.
  6. The boating accident occurred at 5:30 am in the dark so they were probably just heading out. Ship was inbound in the channel. I’m sure @justhookit has the most details. Alcohol unlikely. Sad deal.
  7. You talk about tax rate as a criteria. By that I assume you mean property tax rate rather than income/sales taxes. We have lived in Texas and Colorado. Your $1.5-2.5MM property investment in Colorado is cheaper in the long run than Texas for sure. Don’t know about the other options.
  8. Narrator - These poles are not our standard.
  9. The logistical effort to organize and effectively manage 5000 (or whatever) crews coming from all over country to get out to work on individual projects is immense. Seems like they should have a playbook for that and maybe have war-gamed that situation ahead of time. But what do I know.
  10. Hunkered down in Katy.
  11. But what does Ms Hidalgo have to say? Or is she curled up in the fetal position?
  12. Headed in July 16th. Hopefully the Beryl clears out without any major damage.
  13. Not sure that Trev could actually say all that with a straight face.
  14. Band nerd (former? no still) also. In for fiddy.
  15. Thanks, saw that one on TW. Also, there’s a Hawaiian brand Koloa I may give a try. Headed to Port A in a few weeks, and enjoy me some rum drinks at the beach.
  16. Feels like Schloss is a worthy successor to Augie. Sorry it took 8 years to get there.
  17. I’ve enjoyed a few bottles of the Diplomatico. Good stuff. I used to buy Ten Cane Rum for my Mojitos and other mixed drinks. But I don’t see it anymore. What is a similar rum? Not white rum but light gold.
  18. If the dude can triple his salary, a couple more years in collieville doesn’t seem so bad does it?
  19. This aggy coaching search sounds a lot like the David Pierce sweepstakes back in the day. A long list of names of guys who got raises and extensions, and a bunch of No Thanks I'm Good. Leadership counts I guess. Sorry aggy.
  20. Most all my bills are on autopay. F that crap.
  21. Buddy of mine and his son did the Continental Divide route a bunch of years ago. Took them 60 days, and they camped mostly. I don't think they went into Canada, but did start in Mexico. https://bikepacking.com/routes/great-divide-mountain-bike-route-gdmbr/
