I'm An Alcoholic
Of course my wife gets worried especially when I'm out on the road ( not driving but general travel) my workmates all enjoy themselves also. I generally don't get hammered at dinner. It's going back to the hotel where I'm alone.

I'm An Alcoholic
I guess for me is that I'm in the restaurant business and I travel a lot around 200 days a year. Restaurant life + stress of the business +lots of hotels = lots of drinking. I can pass up beer and liquor no problem. When I'm home I can fairly easily not have any alcohol but put me in a hotel bar at 8 PM after a business dinner then its lots of wine consumption. Also on a Friday or Saturday night grilling out with family I can easily drink 3 bottles of wine myself.

Much love and respect to you all. Probably the only thread that is real and shows some humanity on surly. Question. Those that have struggled in the past or currently was it all types of Alcohol-meaning no matter if it was beer, wine or liquor you felt the want/need to drink? Or was it say wine but could easily pass up any other alcoholic beverage no matter the circumstances. Thanks for the responses in advance.

like regular 'ol pizza or a place like fireside pies? Margies used to make a damn good pizza but I haven't been in several years. Slice City was pretty good a couple weeks ago. Mammas and Perrotti's are good local pizza places.

Wine
No big deal brother! Yes, they have gotten wildly expensive because you know every new vintage is the greatest ever! Lol. I picked these up for $119 a bottle. I've been building a small side collection to give my daughter when she turns 21. She is 4 now. Mostly domestic mountain fruit, Burgundy and Bordeaux. Love to get some Clos ste. Hune to put away for her.

Could You Move to a Small Town
The problem with small towns and dining options in my experience is that people typically don't want to pay the price for "good" food made from scratch other than Friday or Saturday nights. That's why they are dominated with DQs, Subways, Pizza hut, or the local family owned Mexican joint. They want chicken fried steak and 2 sides for $8. Hard to make a go at it when its slow monday-thursday and the labor aspect of the restaurant business in small towns is tough. I'm not saying there are not successful mom and pop restaurants in small town America but there is typically something else going that supports the business. Take Mary's in Strawn very successful with the locals but also big destination for hunters who are passing through. I'm in Kemp, TX (population 1,200) and we have a Sonic, Subway, Local BBQ joint (most of their business is catering around the lake area) and a Mennonite sandwich place that does well because it's tourist driven and low labor costs--all family of course. We go over to Gun Barrel ( pop 5,800) for services and its all the fast food chains, cheap Tex Mex and Italian places locally owned. The one place that is kinda nice is the Brewery in Seven Points. they do well but its mostly tourist driven ( Dallas people with second homes on the lake and motorcycle groups stopping in) they also have their primary business of selling beer regionally.

Yea those fuckers are the worst. Damn monopoly basically. I don't have internet because of that. I have a Barndominium with spray foam so I also get shitty cell service.

In Kemp-southern Kaufman County we only have Century Link and it's real shitty. There is a waiting list.

Fort Worth is exploding
I believe the Bricks and Mortar is moving forward under a rebrand under Lou Lambert and flores current employees. Something like Campo BBQ and Tex Mex. Something like that.

Fort Worth is exploding
Looks like the Flores BBQ owner is calling it quits and taking some time away. Flores BBQ will re brand under a new name.

Am I BatShit Crazy for wanting to start a small business?
Are you a business broker? i'd love to hear how "regular Joes" finance these transactions. I'm asking sincerely and out of curiosity. for an example a business that cash flows say $500,000 what would that cost to buy? I'm a 20+ year restaurant executive, multi unit/multi state. Thanks in advance.

Pretty nice here in southern Kaufman County. 40 minutes to Dallas on 175. Lots of people have been buying land and building on it. 10 to 20 acre kinda places. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
