  1. Cedar Park-- yesterday here in my neighborhood, there was enough sun to somewhat melt the snow/sleet that was frozen to the roads. But it was still very wet and overnight it just re-froze into a solid sheet of ice, so now the roads are actually worse than yesterday. The forecasts have it getting up to 32 today but they've been consistently predicting about 3-4 degrees warmer than our actual temperatures, so we'll see. Hopefully the sunlight will be enough to knock out the ice but right now, it's possible we're not going anywhere until tomorrow afternoon.
  2. Now a victory over Arsenal and up to 4th on the table! Come on all you Reds, you can come out of hiding now... for a little while anyway.
  3. Leander ISD just canceled tomorrow as well.
  4. <obligatory> </obligatory>
  5. Yup we decided to kick it for this weekend, opened a bottle of red earlier and just made a big batch of egg nog.
  6. Godspeed, gentle surlies.
  7. And also, with the way she was dressed, she was asking for it, obviously. 😠
  8. What do you think this place is, Hornfans? Surly shows no mercy.
  9. Eh, we only have to deal with it a couple days per year on average. And smart people just stay off the road anyway, so it really only impacts dumbasses.
  10. Where are you? Location would help, thanks in advance. It's currently 66 in Austin, for reference.

Yeah too much white. It's okay, but gimme more red.
  13. Belgian strong ales are my jam, baby!
  14. Man, up to 5th on the table and a big win over manshitty in the derby, is that enough to get some talk going on this thread? 😄
  15. Yeah and the whole space is really nice. I love the little downstairs pub.

    How are their tortillas?
  17. Same here. What a piece of junk.
  18. For the entire Freezepocalypse of 2021 (and the shorter Icepocalypse of 2023) I just ran my pumps the whole time. No heater and no tarp were used. If you have autofill though, you might want to turn it off, because that one-way backflow-preventing check valve is gonna pop like a firecracker if it stays below freezing for 24 hours. You can insulate the crap out of it, and it'll still go. I've replaced mine 3 or 4 times in the 14 years we've had the pool. I actually just keep an extra one on-hand at all times now.
  19. IMO, Altstadt is one of those breweries where pretty much everything is pleasant but nothing is remarkable. The only really bad beer I've had from them is their hefeweizen, but everything else is fine and certainly drinkable. I did get to tour their entire brewing operation one time and the setup is impressive. They're extremely well financed.
  20. It definitely sucks. I agree it must be a front. But even as the idiotic hordes descend like millions of brainless locusts upon the HEB, I can walk straight in and out of the Randall's and see maybe 3 other shoppers at most. Sure, they have a lot of weird yankee brands and don't carry the wide variety of delicious Texcentric delicacies that HEB does, but if I just need a loaf of bread or some milk or deli meat, they can provide the basics for that. Of course, it always costs about 30% more than HEB too, but in times like these I'm willing to pay for convenience.
