Some friends wanted to come fish and paid for a guide to go the jetties. So I went with them. Not a bad day. They don’t get to fish much so they were having a blast. Good variety of fish. Sifted through a million on hard head and gafftops to get what we got. Had two big ass black drum to start the day off. Figured we would have had a few more reds. We had grilled and fried fish for late lunch that day. One of the other jetties boats kept all their gafftop. Glad I wasn’t cleaning them. Waded yesterday with the old man and his buddy. Found one flat with some nice trout on it. Every other spot we tried was nada. I even found a shallow sand bar holding rafts and rafts of mullet and glass minnows but only one lame half ass trout thump. Wasn’t a lot of tide movement. Fuck it. Was better than working.
When my son was a little younger he kept telling me he wanted a Bangs. Finally figured out he couldn’t read the cursive label of Bargs and it looked like an N to him. We still call it Bangs as an inside joke now.

A 250-year-old bottle of whiskey, believed to be the oldest known whiskey in existence, is set to be auctioned.
Skinner Auctioneers believes the bottle was originally a gift and has been safeguarded for generations.
The front of the Old Ingledew Whiskey bottle says it's from Evans & Ragland in La Grange, Georgia. The back features a typed note taped to the glass that says, "this bourbon was probably made prior to 1865."
Skinner Auctioneers says they used a needle to extract a small sample of the liquid to be sent off for testing by experts. Scientists from the University of Georgia determined the whiskey was likely bottled between 1763 to 1803.
The bourbon is set to be auctioned at the end of June for $20,000 to $40,000.
I forgot Gary told Ally that he and Sydney only kissed. So that will be a good blow up soon. Dani telling JL not to break her was good. Daisy’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Can’t even imagine how bad it sounds in the throws of passion.
Their websites are terrible. I only access them from Tapatalk and usually just browse them during lunch. Half of my time is spent looking at the boats for sale.
I think the old timers got tired of all the changes and rules and left to go to Dos Frio Cool pics: Sunday Beach / Pass & Fish Pond since they have started to silt in from last years storm.
I would agree. You will see bay trout follow the food source throughout the seasons but I don't think there is a ton of exchange between gulf trout and bay trout.
I follow a couple of jetty guides on FB and I noticed that not one of them has posted a pic of their catch that included in a trout in many months. I don't know where the Gulf Trout go during this time of year but it is not the jetties. I text one and asked him when he will start to see good trout show up and he said "mid to late April".
I did sign up for Trout Support's Members area last year. I found it really informative in regards to the seasonality of Trout, Reds and Flounder. Tobin has a really strong background in Ecology and does videos every week talking about what to look for when on the water. So if you are looking to geek out on saltwater fishing info, I think it is worth it. If you fish Galveston area, he has a Reef Recon overlay for your GPS that is pretty nice. There is a forum set up where members share ideas, product info and Tobin has been very good about answering questions that are posted.
I think on Sunday I am going to tear down all my fishing gear and reorganize. And I need to switch out some hooks on lures.
Troph - There are two fishing websites that I follow. 2Coolfishing.com and then there was a rebellion last year and these guys started dosfrio.com offshoot of 2 Cool. On one of those websites is a guy named Shark Chum who apparently is the Mr Miyagi of surf fishing. Definitely looking for his posts for tips.
