Wilshere is more of a #8, IMO. When I've seen him, he's rarely the deepest MF. skip or Derka can correct me if I'm wrong.
IF Henderson plays like he did against Roma, he's the #6 and it's not really debatable. That's not because he's England's greatest MF; it's down to a lack of options. The other problem is he doesn't always play like that.
Interesting quotes from Wenger this morning ahead of his Europa League tie. Said it wasn't his decision for him to leave now and that'll he'll definitely work again. I didn't see the press conference, but from what I've read, it sounds like he's bitter.
LFC went on to beat City 2-1 when their 'buttholes puckered.'
Watch the first leg of Barca v Roma back again. Roma was all over them for large periods of that match at the Camp Nou. Two of Barca's four goals were own goals and Barca got away with a penalty in that match as well. Barca never looked as dominant against Roma as LFC did.
I'm not saying Roma can't keep us off the scoreboard. It's sport. Anything can happen. But, LFC has scored 18 away goals in the CL this year. It would be a HUGE surprise if Roma is able to after we've just put 5 past them.
If you're talking about the first goal, I don't think he was. He was played on by the CB farthest from him. Stu Holden is full of shit.
But if we're talking 'ifs', they shouldn't have had a pen. That was never a deliberate handball. And, we probably should've scored more. Mane missed two very easy chances and their keeper made a couple of decent saves.
What's the latest word on Lallana and Can? I thought I heard they were done for the season and then I heard maybe not. Chelsea is 11 days away. I know Lallana was in South Africa for treatment. Would be great if one or both could somehow make it back for Chelsea or even Brighton.
The key is to beat Stoke. We need 4 points from Stoke, at Chelsea and Brighton. That should be a piece of cake. Although, beating West Brom with a 2 goal lead should've been cake too.
Also, Roma's squad is as thin as ours and they've played more games in recent weeks than we have. I'd be more worried about their legs, if I were a Roma fan.
We play Stoke first and I think there's enough time between today, Saturday and the semi on Wednesday to go full strength for all three. If we beat Stoke, that nearly sews up 4th.
Then we can get creative with the lineup for Chelsea.
