  1. Speaking of Chevron. I see they bought a large amount of land in Cypress for an R&D center. Anyone know the deal on that? I suspect the home prices are going to jump in the area.
  2. Ah ok. Then I likely would go with coachwhip.
  3. You should try the crème brûlée snek.
  4. An all time favorite. In high school we watched it as a coming of age story. But before that I saw it as a cycling movie because my brother and I raced. That and American Flyers.
  5. Where are you? If the Woodlands, could be a juvenile coachwhip. Maybe a buttermilk racer.
  6. I had the worst bbq at the one on Burnet. Perhaps worst in my life. This was around 2003-4 I would suspect. It was similar to Hickory Hollow in Houston.
  7. Markings make me think Prairie Kingsnake, but color is kind of strange. So I’m going with Kitchen Remodel Snek.

Decided to hit up El Palenque (Louetta and 249) for the first time in 20 years. Had enchiladas. It was rather average.
  9. Going with my heart, instead of head… Texas 27 Alabama 24
  10. She isn’t bad for being about 60. Not banging the boss (or rather I would be very surprised). I have no idea why she gets away with it. What’s even crazier to me is our department manager on this project told me that we were supposed to have four planners on staff. We have three because she went behind his back and told the client we didn’t need four. I was kind of shocked. I would be livid if I were him and she pulled that shit. This week should be a real hoot.
  11. I really despise inconsistent application of policy. I went back to the engineering side of O&G recently and landed on a job that needed senior help. So while I have been a lead before, I am not on this job as I’m here to help the lead that has been on it for two years. Anyways, as the consultant, we bend the knee to the client (which happens to be one of the biggest pain in the ass of the O&G world). As per the contract/policy, the starting time is 5:30-6:30am, which I follow. However, this lead (which I now know is nuts), rolls into the office, on average, at 9:30. Today is extra special because it is 10:30 and she is still not here. We have a major deadline next week and we can’t get on the same page. Makes me regret this move, but there isn’t any going back. Best I can hope for is to get past this deadline and then ask to be reassigned (or jump ship).
  12. Fanning the flames of hate. College football is back.
  13. This has been thoroughly entertaining.
  14. The media and even some on this site were high on him. Dismissed Malik. I don’t get it.
  15. I still don’t get all the hype Ewers got after the spring game. And today didn’t change anything for me.
  16. Got the scans back. A few keepers I guess. Color is Ektachrome E100 shot with Pentax 6x7 and B&W is Ilford HP5 shot with a Nikon F2.
  17. I’m not sure. I have been there several times on Fridays but always arrived before or at 11am. Line can be deep. Like 20+. I really wish I could say it would be a short stop but I doubt it. They cook some amazing bbq.
  18. Yeah, for sure. I know a guy that does stained glass windows and he has made similar comments on other photos. Someone did take the chandeliers from the smaller chapel.
  19. Things continue to be rather slow. I did send off a couple of rolls of film to be developed and scanned. I haven't been exploring abandoned buildings much lately. Just not a lot of interesting ones within day trip distance. But, a church I have had my eye on lately is accessible now, so got a few shots. Not real happy with these. Always tricky doing exposure with windows getting blown out. I could do multiple exposures, but I just feel like that is cheating in a way. Anyways...
  20. Red Bird BBQ, Port Neches. I think this is one of the offshoots of Goldee’s. I can’t keep it all straight. Nice building with a good amount of seating. Line moves slow. Had 1/2 lb of brisket, a link of sausage and some red beans and rice. Brisket was excellent. Maybe the every so tiniest bit salty, but flavor was fantastic. I liked the sausage as well. Wish it would have been a spicy variety. Red beans and rice were delicious. This makes choosing between 1701 and Red Bird a difficult task when you are in the armpit of Texas.
  21. Wow. Hahaha love it.
  22. Holy shit. Incredible.
