  1. Also, I used to commute to the Allen Center for a little over a year. I get to work pretty early, so traffic wasn’t really a big deal. 30 minutes in the morning and maybe a little longer in the afternoon.
  2. I mentioned in a movie thread that last night I watched The Last Rider. Pretty good documentary about Greg Lemond which focuses on the 89 Tour. It’s $5.99 Amazon and appletv.
  3. Could have been. He has other items besides furniture. Also meant *NOT cheap in my post.
  4. If I didn’t have kids I wouldn’t worry about things like that. Hell, I’d probably just live in the 5th Ward and retire at 55.
  5. We live in that JV area you are talking about. It’s ok. But my wife doesn’t think JV high school is good, thus we may start looking in Cypress. One issue with this area is the HEB is pretty lame. It’s kind of old and small. There are two Krogers, and while not horrible, they aren’t as nice as the ones in cypress or the other big burbs.
  6. The Last Rider. Biographical documentary about Lemind with obvious focus on the 89 Tour de France victory. It was well done and I enjoyed it. Unfortunate that Fignon isn’t around to be included. This is one of my most vivid sports memories. At the time my older brother was competitively racing. I was also into it and had done several citizen races. So my whole family watched it together.
  7. Agreed. I like Cub, but he lost. He knew it.
  8. Haha wow. Ok I guess.
  9. Yeah, some fun exchanges in that one. Too little too late for Cub. Can’t believe he hasn’t retired.
  10. He absolutely should get respect for that. His black belt is legit. He can grapple. He is also an obnoxious dumbass. He thinks the earth is flat. The whole rubber guard thing is really nothing.
  11. I’ll have to find that finish. I’m sure Joe and Eddie creamed their pants. I remember when those two claimed rubber guard and Eddie’s 10th planet shit would revolutionize mma. Uh huh.
  12. I’m reminiscing. I like hot weather, but this shit is beating me down too.
  13. Drier heat and you chose East Texas? Doesn’t computer. Put a rebel flag on your house and car.
  14. Smoked chicken tortilla soup on a cold day.
  15. We all know that. Not the point.
  16. I don’t think I have had anyone look sideways at me or my family overhearing us speak Portuguese in public. Mostly get people trying to speak Spanish back to us. Eye roll.
  17. More than enough recordings of his voice in character. Use AI to reproduce it, pay his family what he would have earned. Assuming the comeback happens.
  18. Reese Bros Leroy and Lewis Moreno Brett’s in Rockdale (I think it’s open again per this thread) Doesn’t sound like you are going to the coastal bend, but Butter’s is great. I pass it weekly. I haven’t heard anything good about it. Looking at photos on their google reviews, doesn’t look like anything I want to spend money on.
  19. I went over to dipshit.com to see their intelligent and thought conversation on this news story. I was shocked to not find one. Shocked I tell you. However, related to what Macanudo posted up thread: https://texags.com/forums/15/topics/3391833
  20. That might have been good to mention (kind of did up thread). Bar-A in Montgomery.
  21. I see this a lot, especially on this site, but rebellion or fitting in never entered my mind. I’m sure some think they are being counter culture.
  22. Couldn’t help myself on my day off. The only spot on the new 25 in the Houston area that I haven’t been too. Owner/pitmaster was cutting. We talked about how people who say cheese doesn’t belong in sausage are joyless and wrong. He then gave me a link of the house beef sausage for free. Price for brisket is high at $18 a half pound. Links are $8 a piece and larger than say the ones from Tejas and Truth. Brisket was very good, or what I think we all consider what the standard should be. The sausage was good with nice snap. Maybe the tiniest bit salty. However, taking a tip from Evan Leroy, sausage pairs well with a mustard base sauce, which they had.
  23. I suggest talk to a lawyer familiar with land and mineral rights. If I was still at the oil company (left a month ago), I would go ask the lawyer. What did she sign? $1,500 for what exactly? And yeah, I would expect royalties along with the lease. I would want to see what their projections are.
