Dont minimize Harden doing this in China where Morey is hated for his comments a couple yrs ago. Morey has bent over time and time again for Harden. As recently as May they let Harden go to Vegas in the middle of the playoffs. He's like a spoiled child that's been given everything he has ever asked for then finally being told no.

Pretty wild to publicly state this. Even wilder considering how he and Morey have been over the yrs. There is a reason you dont do "wink-wink" deals. Shit can change and one side may back out. And I get athletes are always gonna think they are the shit and need to make max money but reality is with his age and history/reputation thinking that someone is going to give him full max is pretty wild. Especially coming off another pretty spectacular flameout in the playoffs.

I dont understand why someone would even worry about this. Way too much of counting other people's money in sports today.

Wade was the one with a Finals MVP before LBJ got there. That alone would trump Harden.

EDIT2: Fuck that they dont make shit LOL The league does not make teams publicize their player salaries as the NFL does. However, it is estimated that players make between $60,000 and $100,000. The minimum salary an American or National player can make is $65,000. For Global players, that floor is set at $54,000.Nov 21, 2022- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
NFLPA is the worst of the players unions. It also helps that the NFL is literally the only game in town. If it somehow came to be a long work stoppage NBA players could go overseas and make huge money. EDIT: I guess NFL players could go to Canada but I have no idea how the money compares there.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season

Meh, not really. There are still 29 other teams that they can get money from (see Fred Van Vleet or any number of fringe guys getting big paydays). How does raising the % of revenue given to players make things better? Are you suggesting that they are able to give certain players money that doesnt count toward the cap?- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
Not assuming that they deserve it. I know for certain that any All-NBA level player will ask for it. That is the nature of time with max deals. Every best player (or even 2nd best in most cases) will expect it. Their teams will more than likely have to give it because most are over the cap and losing players for nothing doesn't free cap room. More importantly, they have the money to spend. The league is making money hand over fist and will soon be up for another massive raise with the next TV deal. As far as the contract durations go, that was another thing that owners fought for. They used to be able to go much longer and then they complained about having to pay guys yrs after they were useful or even on their teams . Further, people already complain about guys dogging it when they have guaranteed deals. Can you imagine how much worse that would be if a guy was in say yr 5 of a 10 yr guaranteed deal?? People just get too caught up with how much players make. If Brown can make 60M/yr how much is the guy that pays him and 14 other guys? No one seems to have a problem with how much money owners make but I guess that is another conversation. I really hate that player salaries became public information but that is EXACTLY what owners wanted and its worked incredibly well.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
He was the next max deal up. The next max deal guy will get more. Just like in football when the next QB is highest paid player.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
Meh, its a max deal. I mean I guess they could have tried to give him 4 yrs but that was the advantage that owners wanted in giving the fifth yr. If they offer 4 then he can say fuck yall and get the same on the open market.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
Owners wanted to cap contracts. This is the result of the max level contract scale.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season

The responses to this are pretty wild. I dont know that a superstar MVP level player has ever gotten softer treatment from the media and fans. Everyone is acting like PHI has done him wrong when his bitch ass has failed spectacularly many times. PHI not getting past the 2nd round is almost totally on him failing the team. The org definitely has fucked up plenty but they have not failed him.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
Again, the Curry deal, the Starbury deal and others were because he wasnt allowed to burn it to the ground and start over. It was always trying to patch up what was already fucked. Sometimes you have to take your medicine and let shit go. Did he give up too much for Curry? Sure!!! Unconscionable in hindsight but it was done to try and keep them as a playoff team instead of letting the shit go bad and build for a few yrs down the road. All that said, I dont even think that Zeke is driving force behind all of this. James Jones has proven to be a very good GM. With him minding the cap info I think they will be fine for the most part. They are clearly too top heavy and consequently very susceptible to an injury to their main guys torpedoing their season. I grew up in the D in the 80's, sue me.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
The first round picks are already gone at this point. If you are going with those 4 (and I totally get the debate on why they shouldnt) this is the only path. I'm partial cause I LOVE Isiah, always have and always will. I get that he is quite polarizing but I think his rep as a bad GM is vastly overblown. He was great in TOR drafting Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby and Tracy McGrady in 3 straight drafts helping to build them to a fairly decent team within a few yrs of their existence. People tend to forget how badly Scott Layden had the Knicks cap situation when Thomas got there. He made it worse with some of his moves for sure but a lot of that went from a mandate from ownership not to completely tear it down so he always had to try and get guys on 2nd chances and hope they panned out. Penny Hardaway, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, even the Eddy Curry thing. The sexual harassment shit is completely inexcusable, no question about that and casts a huge negative on his time there. Worse than any move he made obviously. Even with the Knicks he was pretty good drafting David Lee, Trevor Ariza and Wilson Chandler pretty late in their respective drafts. If Zeke is the one judging talent and making the decision on drafting, I like what they can do with all those 2RPs. Additionally, players, former and current, LOVE him. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2017954-turns-out-isiah-thomas-was-sort-of-a-good-gm-according-to-new-study- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
I like what PHX is doing stacking up 2nd round picks for pick swaps that they already have swaps for LOL. They wont be able to afford any 1st round picks for a while anyway if they really are going to keep Beal, Booker, KD and Ayton together. May as well have a whole bunch of 2RPs and hope that one or two pan out to be rotation guys. There are always a couple guys that are far more ready to contribute in the 2nd. Having more chances to find one is great idea for their situation. - NBA 2023-24 Off Season
