The following is hopefully read in a conversational / discursive tone. I have zero desire to try & talk ANYONE out of their actual (not politica) "closely held beliefs: "Sin" in the Chrisrian God-fearing sense does not exist. we are told in [church / synagogue/ temple / mosque] how "God" knew h& knows everything that would happen before anything happened. That's what the singular "God" ideology tells us [Talmudic, Christian, Ibrahimaic, etc]. Therefore, by following through with what we are supposed to believe is this God enacted creation, God ["he"] obviously decided everything that would happen in the future was OK because all of it is "his" plan. Isn't that what we are told, to "Trust His plan... everything in God's own time, don't question the plan", etc.? This means nothing can / could / would be an affront against God because "he" caused everything to happen. Either you believe everything was created with 100% of the future predetermined & we are merely a puzzle with only one way to be assembled or you don't believe that. If you DO believe in the concept of a pre-ordained / "end result of everything is already known to the omniscient / all powerful to an endless infinity singularity God", then the logical small next step in turn mean that the concept of "free will / free choice" is an illusion & "sin" can not exist because everything we do is 100% within God's designed plan. Not only did "God" know it was gonna happen, but "God" planned it. Full Stop. To me, religion in general falls under the category of "Whatever gets you through the night (but don't try to coerce or force me.") Add a biblical pinch of double-speak & contradictions, then add a teaspoon of "Well, that one's "Old, we use the New nowadays" & that language gets flipped around consistently & you easily see where this takes us. From the age of around 15 or so, I started questioning my faith (in general). Had been an "Altar Boy" in the Catholic church (Saint Thomas Aquinas, Fort Lauderdale, no, never touched) & then I sorta considered myself 'Agnostic Adjacent. Got married in a UMC ('95) because it was convenient / not full on "BaB -tist" & the Pastor was friendly Then when I lost her to Lupus, I saw & experienced the suffering for Jamie (physically) that took years & it then messed ME up for years. I probably still have not properly dealt with it. How could such a wonderful human have to be tortured like that & for so many years? And again, if this is the 100% Omniscient God, wTF is the message? Why do we as a humanity have to deal with insufferable famine, pestilence disease? I am talking the physical manifestation of a "Well... SHIIIIIT... can't deny that" burning bush / part the waters / completely undeniable" thing or moment that thousands would get to see IRL I mean, why stop the miracles a bazillion years ago? Why let kids die painfully from cancer? That bullshit about "God musta wanted more angels & yours was the roulette spot the marble landed on" might comfort YOU, but I'll take logic & science. Team "WORKS"instead of "FAITH ALONE" for me (Ephesians 2:8-9). Nope, if there IS a "God", this being has a shitload of stuff to answer for, everything from "Hitler & assholes like him + related historical genocides" all the way to NOW (& i will throw in Reggie Bush getting Vince's Heisman for added absurdity). ___________________ That said, I am in Ø way trying to talk ANYONE out of THEIR faith. If you're insecure so much about YOUR faith, why have you read so long & far on my TL/DR post? Me, I cannot avoid using logic in the same way I can avoid gravity. It just "is"... similar to the "a rose by any other name" thing but positioned as a paradox & not poetry. It's very much like a Pyle Field 39'ers thing of "From the outside looking IN you can't understand it & from the inside looking OUT you can't explain it." _______________________ That said, anyone who thinks an Atheist ● Is a Satanist ●Wants to convert you ● Has a problem with others being whatever religion they WANT to be (Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Flying Spaghetti Monster), TThe you Don understand the logic we operate from. As James Brown said" "It's your Thang Do Whatcha wanna do I can't tell ya Who-ta sock it to"
