Help me build a Spotify Playlist.... 70's guitar rock
I saw all of those bands in 79 and 80 all in separate shows, (except for Bruford). Was Killer Bees the reggae band from Austin? Man, I used to LOVE their live shows. I saw April Wine open for Molly Hatchet that year. REO on the 9 Lives tour (actually 79) before Cronin pussed out on us and ruined Gary Richrath. Would have to go thru the ticket stubs to see how the other bands played with.

Help me build a Spotify Playlist.... 70's guitar rock
This version of "Call Me The Breeze" just kills me. Not sure if I like this or a live Skynyrd better.... More twin lead guitars: April Wine, Sign of the Gypsy Queen.

Guitar Effect Pedalphile Thread
Find a small plastic tub with a lid. Place the pedals in the tub, then fill up 2-3 coffee cups half full with bleach and set them in the tub and seal it up with the lid. Replace the bleach every day for a week. The bleach should soak up a lot of the odor. It might help to take the bottoms off the pedals to let the hippy juice more easily escape.

What a sad, sad story. Peaceful thoughts to all in their circle.

Yep. I love this video where Evan is working on the song, sitting outside of the house with Bruce. And good lord, I love Carrie. She NAILS that vocal.

GTFO your mobile phone while driving
My mailbox got run over twice in one week by two different people who were texting. It's like they get in their car, start driving, then start texting.

Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, and Other Good Stuff
At an Americana forum with REK, Bruce Robison and a bunch of other folks, Bruce said that they make between $4,000-6,000 for every 1 million streams. Years ago, he told me that people weren't going to be able to make albums because people weren't going to be buying albums. That is where he got the idea for his "The Next Waltz" project. Take one great song and one great artist. I'm really glad he is compiling those and releasing them. This is probably my favorite they have done. GREAT cover of a Kristofferson song.

Hohner made really good guitars in the early 80s.

How does that work when you come through customs with a counterfeit item? Do they only target the seller/distributor? Is there a difference if you bring it with you versus shipping it in?

Tourist Trip to Titanic Terribly Turns Tragic
I can't wait to get to the bar next to the office and find that the people with all of the medical degrees during COVID are now experts on deep water exploration and recovery.

I hope that has some of the Kim Richey stuff on it. I told her that my favorite part of that record was hearing her harmony vocals "Relatively Easy" and "Stockholm". She had the biggest smile and said, "Thanks for recognizing that. It was sooooo much fun and so nice of him to ask me to do that." He also had Abby Owens sing on the album version of "Heart On A String". I like Amanda's background vocals on certain songs, but her voice isn't as smooth as some songs seem to need.

Darden Smith recently did a "Talking About Songs" where he takes songs apart to see how they were constructed. His one for "Cover Me Up" is fascinating. https://www.instagram.com/p/CrwhxwJv6YW/?hl=en

Tom Petty kicks all kinds of ass
Great story. Been a huge fan of Gurf's since his early time with Lucinda. I LOVED his guitar work on that early stuff. Then, in 96/97 I was eating in a little bar in Arlington, VA and this dude walks in and starts loading in some equipment. He sat a box of CDs on the bar and I started going through them. I found the most recent one and noticed that Gurf produced it and thought, "I've never heard of Slaid Cleaves, but I believe I'll stick around for the show." I've seen him play with Lucinda, Slaid, Patty Griffin and Buddy/Julie Miller. He always seems to be around my favorite artists. If I see him in the credits, I buy it.

Damn @tbone_ Nailed that Wachtel tone.....and my arm gets tired just listening to those 16th notes. I had Waddy interviewed about that and he said he had to get into shape before going on tour with her because of that song. Great job and the harmony voices to everyone! Good stuff.

I never really knew anything about him until he showed up in the "Do They Know It's Christmas" video. Very unique voice that I couldn't describe.
