It's also easy to talk about how poorly the growth has been managed when you're talking about a city that has damn near doubled in size in the last 20 years. And did the same the 20 years before that....
I know the Pac sucks too, but a Pac with Texas and and Oklahoma would be a fuckton better than the Pac or Big 12 today imo.
But whatever, I've accepted we're stuck playing fucking TCU, Baylor, and West Virginia every year. Fuck it.
Just wanna barge in to say the Big XII is a shitty ass conference, and Texas should've gotten the fuck out a decade ago. Pac, Big, SEC, Independent, Prestige Worldwide, whatever.
Doesn't say Austin, but many are making the assumption based on a few things including....
Musk also recently relocated his private foundation to Austin. Bloomberg news service reported that the Musk Foundation, which was based in California, created an entity in Austin over the summer. The two entities then merged, according to a certificate filed with the Texas Secretary of State in October that Musk signed, and the resulting entity is now based in the Austin area.

I'm not so sure about that. They don't own all that land around their existing buildings for no reason. And Austin was already considered a frontrunner for the HQ for TikTok Global. Maybe unrelated, but....

Oracle and Walmart would get a combined 20% stake in a new company called TikTok Global, which is expected to go public in the next year. Four of the five members on TikTok Global's board of directors will be American.
TikTok Global also plans to create 25,000 US jobs as part of an expansion of its global headquarters, which will remain in the US.
The building where the team store and beer hall will be is looking good. I believe this view is overlooking what will become the HEB Plaza.
The "end caps" are going on the roof structure as well.
Need a recommendation guys. I want to order an Austin FC jersey, but had a couple of questions. Authentic or replica? Also, I normally wear Large t-shirts. Are these jerseys true to size? I hate the idea of dropping $100 plus dollars on a shirt that I never wear because it doesn't fit right.
The North and South segments are breaking ground in a little over year or so. The Central segment starts when those are complete circa 2025.
I don't think the state will defund one of the most important and congested segments of highway in the state to "punish" Austin.
But apparently this is yet another thread for bitter folks to bitch about Austin, and root for it to fail.
Enjoy yourselves!
TXDOT has been very consistent in saying tunneling will be necessary for the area roughly from Airport to MLK. That is a big reason why this is such an expensive project.
If expanding the ROW was possible the state would have made that move back in the 70s when they expanded the highway. Instead they added the upper deck.
And removing the barrier of an elevated highway between East and West Austin is an important component of this project in addition to the primary purpose of increased capacity.
