This is incredible and would be a terrifying position to be in as a POW. Near Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, Ukrainian drones saved Ukrainian soldiers who had been captured by a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group, the 25th Sicheslav Airborne Brigade reported. The enemy group accompanying four soldiers was detected by aerial reconnaissance patrolling the area, after which strike drones were immediately dispatched to help. "The rapid approach of a swarm of FPV drones disoriented the enemy and distracted their attention. Ukrainian soldiers took advantage of this and managed to escape captivity," the brigade said. Russian soldiers tried to hide in bushes and trenches, but they were attacked by more than 10 drones, resulting in the neutralization of enemy personnel. While I share your derision of the Reformed, I don't usually think of them as the central figures of Christian Nationalism. Can you explain that point further? I see evangelicals (which, depending on your definition, can definitely overlap with Reformed) and in particular the NAR Seven Mountains idiots as the primary advocates or voices for Christian Nationalism.- Русский корабль - иди нахуй

Xi's making some big moves in China right now. Some speculating it could be due to resistance to a Taiwan invasion. Translated from Chinese 【Latest News】Chinese authorities have announced an investigation into Central Military Commission Vice Chairman Zhang Youxia, as well as Central Military Commission member and Chief of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission Liu Zhenli, accusing them of suspected "serious violations of discipline and law." “This is the most stunning development in Chinese politics since the early days of Xi’s rise to power,” says Dennis Wilder...He believes that many of the recent purges were due to rivalry between a faction led by General Zhang and another group who mainly built their careers serving in eastern China...General Zhang’s faction...prevailed. That left him with unprecedented authority. But it also made him a potential threat to Mr Xi. “He is a tough, profane old goat and, while he had allied with Xi, he was never his subordinate,” Mr Wilder says of General Zhang. What Xi Jinping’s purge of China’s most senior general reveals Very good question. There are a few issues let me try and explain. 1. When Xi assumed power, the PLA is a massive beast that was largely unaccountable to CCP leaders. They have/had massive business interests all throughout China and in some cases abroad. Even now they control the drug trade in the Golden Triangle even if they may not do the actual running the collect significant tribute. From ZTE to energy and hotels and other businesses, the PLA is a massive behemoth. 2. This had two implications. First, national security had been relegated to almost a side hustle rather than sole and primary objective. They had lots of men but a lot less hardware (because of funding from the state, funding that had been received was siphoned off into other projects, and they just were focused on making that a priority) to fight force projection military conflicts and the men they did have were overseeing lots of businesses and other activities that were not central to the mission. Second, they were so sprawling and unfocused they had become a near state within a state. In many ways they have almost all the hallmarks of a state and could largely operate unfettered within China and would take orders from CCP leadership if they felt like it (I exaggerate slightly). 3. This is where we get to the good part. From the day Xi arrived he has been lased focused on a) making PLA accountable to him/CCP leadership alone so that they take orders from him b) make the PLA into a modern fighting force that can take Taiwan by force if necessary. In a way I agree and understand where with where Xi is coming from. That type of power structure is bad for a country and dangerous to the leader. However, what Xi wants to accomplish is a complete overhaul and change for the PLA. This is why I say, and it's very clear, that since Xi has been in charge there has been a low grade civil war between Xi and the PLA the entire time. 4. What specifically is happening now? Pure speculation. I don't think it is crazy to speculate the PLA is less anxious to try and take Taiwan by force than Xi. I am NOT saying that is happening, I am saying that is not a crazy theory. It wouldn't be crazy to think the PLA has attempted to over throw Xi. Again, I am not saying that has happened, I am saying that would not be a crazy theory. Don't believe anyone who says oh their family ties or they were friends. That's nice for hyper-superficial analysis of people who don't know how China works but knives will come out for a best friend when money or power involved. Again, I want to stress, the exact reason for the current issues is pure speculation- Surly #Stonks
Well first of all, that seems like a pretty flawed process if keeping people alive prevents others' access to lifesaving treatment. And second, are you telling me 8 people stand between all of us getting unlimited hookers and blow? We can remedy that.- Русский корабль - иди нахуй

"If they [Russians] are promising you well-paying jobs in Russia, you are going to end up in the army." Ukrainian Defenders of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade captured a Ugandan named Richard Akantoran, who, according to him, was forced to fight on the Russian side. He shared that he took a loan from the bank to buy a plane ticket to Russia after someone offered him "good-paying jobs" in the supermarket, factory, etc. But upon arriving in Balashikha, Richard had only two choices - to sign a contract with the Russian military or die from a bullet to the head. According to Richard, three more people from his country signed the contract. One night, he decided to flee the positions without equipment and surrendered to Ukrainian soldiers near Lyman, Donetsk region.- Yogurt shop murders

Don't know if it'll actually do anything but looks like it's finally going through After a very productive meeting today with President Trump on a variety of issues, he greenlit the bipartisan Russia sanctions bill that I have been working on for months with Senator Blumenthal and many others. This will be well-timed, as Ukraine is making concessions for peace and Putin is all talk, continuing to kill the innocent. This bill will allow President Trump to punish those countries who buy cheap Russian oil fueling Putin’s war machine. This bill would give President Trump tremendous leverage against countries like China, India and Brazil to incentivize them to stop buying the cheap Russian oil that provides the financing for Putin’s bloodbath against Ukraine. I look forward to a strong bipartisan vote, hopefully as early as next week.- Русский корабль - иди нахуй

Yesterday I published an analysis on the tanker MARINERA arguing that this was not a routine sanctions evasion case and not a simple oil shipment problem because the behavior around this vessel did not fit commercial logic and instead tracked with mission logic. Three hours later, the Wall Street Journal confirmed that Russia has deployed naval units, including a submarine, to escort MARINERA through the North Atlantic and deter any U.S. attempt to board or seize her, which materially changes how this transit should be understood. See "The Ship Russia Would Not Abandon: A Collision Course Between Superpowers": https://x.com/UKikaski/status/2008659232812658862 States do not assign submarines to protect fuel cargo, and they do not escalate naval posture to defend a marginal tanker.. A submarine escort is not asset protection and it is not commercial risk management but deterrence signaling used when cargo, passengers, or onboard capability are politically or strategically sensitive. In my report, I assessed that MARINERA was likely tied to the movement of high value personnel, ISR capability, or sensitive mission equipment, and that the early U.S. interest combined with Russia’s political response suggested this was being treated as a protected transfer rather than a commercial shipment. The Russian decision to deploy naval escorts, including a submarine, aligns with that assessment because oil and a rusty hull are replaceable while people and capabilities are not. This is why this case is now being handled as a contested movement operation rather than a shipping issue. This is also why it is drawing military assets, why it is being defended in the open, and why it should be analyzed as a strategic transfer problem rather than protecting a comparatively worthless shadow fleet asset. The escort, as I predicted in my report, confirms that "Marinera" is not about sanctioned oil and never was - Do We Have a Christ Followers Thread?
