Iāve always been fascinated by the cycle of retreads in aviation.

Well, exactly 0 people saw a pandemic leading to worldwide economic shutdown as a credible scenario. Btw, I checked and if you were scheduled to come in to get landing currency before the exemption was given then you will still come in and do them even though the FAA has extended grace to August 31.

Prove Me Wrong: American Airlines is the worst domestic airline
Whatās the point of an empty middle seat when someone is sitting directly in front of and behind you?

Who knows what Parker is doing? Crisis/BK operations are his wheelhouse so maybe he and his know what they are doing. Perhaps the buyouts are just shrinking the size of the bucket now as most of the debt service requirements are a few years off. Spoke to some Spirit guys and theyāre looking at 50-60% ops in July. The Mouse, cruises and so on coming back online plus pent up demand will probably ignite the leisure market for awhile.

For reference I had a partial flap landing (no slats) with a full boat at a high elevation airport and our Vapp was 163. You cant extend flaps beyond the second notch until 185 knots, but the gear can be lowered at 250 knots. The wheels wonāt come down above 260 regardless of handle position.

You have the benefit of single sleet ops with limited international exposure and feed, and your customer base isnāt hunting for executive travel perks and lounges. The LCCās/ULCCās will be the canary in the coal mine imoho. Business/international travel will be last to come back, but rapidly once it does as people are starting to come to terms with the real world lethality and transmission contingencies of Covid. That cargo MOU wonāt hurt either. Hopefully the furloughs at the big 3 will be short lived. Interestingly, AA may have the least by shear dent of retirement numbers even though they are singularly the worst off financially.

Minneapolis Cop Murders A Black Man
Jobs etc are there and some town have their charms at different times of the year. My point about the wealthy is that those with the wherewithal get out as quickly and as often as they can. Most often to West Palm or Naples.

Itās where the jobs, business industries etc. are. Itās the same reason DFW is overrun with out of staters. And itās not because they dreamed of the Metroplex. Go to Teterboro, White Plains, Morristown, Philly NorthEast, Martin State, Dulles and probably a few others Iāve neglected on Friday afternoon and youāll find most of the super wealthy people you think love the NE so are getting the fuck out of the NE on the nearest available private jet. Usually to that bastion of culture and fine living known as Florida.

At those point I donāt care if he fails so long as it isnāt by continually giving up third and Orlando over, and over and over again.

Fractional options
Happy to help as I can. I can at least provide the crew perspective on the frac equation.

Fractional options
Depends on the mission, but the normal fractional/charter players are NetJets, Flexjet, XOjet, Travel Management, Planesense, Wheelsup and Jet Suite. Iām guessing youāre looking at Excels or Latitudes if youāre comparing Wheels Up and NJās. Something to think about, and Iām sure theyāve mentioned it, but larger fleets mean better recoverability and shorter wait times to not fly on some chartered jet you know nothing about when weather, maintenance or duty issues inevitably delay one your flights. For Flexjet or NetJets, for example, those recoveries will often take place in better equipment whereas one and two plane fleets like Wheels Up means itāll be another Excel or maybe a King Air 350. It makes things a tad better when the flight goes off schedule, but at least a Challenger 300/350, G or Global shows up to complete the trip. If youāre considering the Phenom versus KingAir 350 then I would simply say that the Phenom has a ton of baggage space, is quite cramped inside, is very slow and has long legs. Itās an entry level jet, and your expectations should be set there even though the salesmen will tell you it is the catās very own ass. We routinely skunked it with performance, and the ownerās often noticed the greatly reduced block times.

I believe that Kauai is roughly the same size as Oahu. The former has about 50k people and the latter has 2M+. Most of the people on Maui are tourists, and the Bog Island is nearly deserted by comparison.

Fractional options
I flew for one of the large fractional operators for over a decade. They can structure the contract 100 different ways to accommodate your needs including the ability to move up or down in aircraft size or buy additional hours if needed. Or sell them back to company or into an owner pot. During my last few years there the charter card product really blew up, and pure fractional shares declined to only 50-60% of the clientele we flew. The cards tend to be a touch more expensive per hour, but have lower total hours bought, and all liability is pushed off on the operator instead of the share owner. Also, and this seems almost silly, but the cards tend to be a one bill item whereas the fractional shares would send updated bills for fuel surcharges, management fees etc. in addition to the base cost of the share. Itās been awhile, but 25 hours in a 7 seat, one stop to anywhere in the country type fleet cost $108k. Iām sure that increased a bit, but you might be able to drive a deal as the fracs are sitting around almost as much as the airlines.

Nasa's Spaceflight Chief Resigns on Eve of Historic Flight
Hell, the last time it threw its hands up in the air (space) and gave up. Iād give it credit for having some initiative.
