  1. We are on the western edge of totality, and have the best chance of minimal cloud cover south of I-20. 75% chance of having a good view. CHIEF
  2. I heard it strains the eyes. CHIEF
  3. You have to drive down the road a bit to Proctor to hit any liquor stores. Oh, and the milk transporter that washes out his trucks on the SW side of town has to be the worst thing I have ever smelled. CHIEF
  4. Got a buddy that works for Hill County Sheriff's Dept., he has a house in Aquilla, which is dead center of the path, he is gonna get a full 4:30 minutes of totality. I'm in the path, but only get a little less than 2:30 of totality. Think I'm gonna just sit in the back yard, and say "fuck the extra two minutes." The drive to Aquilla is usually about an hour and a half, but would probably turn into an all day affair just getting there and back. CHIEF
  5. Give me a ping Vasili, and one ping only please. CHIEF
  6. Cleto Cordero is with Flatland Cavalry. CHIEF
  7. Discussed this last night. CHIEF Jr. has been keeping up with it. Apparently a dab pen was found in the boy's truck, there isn't evidence that they were high, but blood results showed THC in their system, which means they had smoked within the last 30 days. Both boys are semi-vegetables, have no recollection of the accident, and will probably end up being deemed "not competent to stand trial". It would be a death sentence to throw them in the GP of the prison system. It makes sense to charge them for the satisfaction of the victim's families. I'm not sure where they will end up. CHIEF
  8. Mrs. CHIEF has stayed on top of the season. I quit checking prices and size. Looks like she is planning a boil the third weekend in April. Prices are down, size is good, and there aren't as many dead soldiers. I still want to write the season off, but that bitch is persistent. May have to let her rub my "Man card" on her bearded clam. CHIEF
  9. We've got the same situation, here, in Pecan Plantation. We have so many deer, they net around 1000 each year. Someone will post a mountain lion picture about once every six months. We usually have three to four in here at any given time (momma, two cubs, and a Tom). It is a buffet on the hoof. A lot of coyotes as well. CHIEF
  10. When you are not glued to a screen consuming 16 hours of social media, or have access to hundreds of TV channels at your fingertips a lot of creativity can come from staving off boredom. It was also used as a great coping mechanism. Writing great lyrics, catchy hooks and riffs, and getting a little notoriety was great for the ego, especially when your friends and hot girls would bring lawn chairs to your garage to hear your buddies and yourself play. CHIEF
  11. As a builder, small homes just aren't profitable. It costs just as much to plumb a 2 1/2 bath 2000 square foot home as a 2 1/2 bath 3200 square foot home. Plumbers charge by the fixture (or hole). Garage doors, lot cost, appliances, etc. are going to cost the same but you have much less square feet to spread the cost across. Spending 6 months driving 15 minutes each way, each day to GC and check on the progress just isn't worth the $10-20k in profit, especially since you have to warranty all of the work. CHIEF
  12. At full pool level, not over filled, I have seen depths of over 300 feet, on a high end depth finder, in the area right below The Oasis. I remember back in the 90's when someone lost a sailboat, and they didn't find it for about a decade. It's pitch black at the bottom. CHIEF
  13. That Soul Train and Break Dancing originated in the 1930's: CHIEF
  14. https://www.nola.com/news/business/disaster-declaration-for-louisiana-crawfish-shortage/article_d1c1603c-dc03-11ee-8374-cbd43a4cc2d0.amp.html Moose out front and shit. CHIEF
  15. Well, CHIEF Jr.'s best friend is getting married in Ashland on Labor Day Weekend, he is the Best Man. We found a deal to fly into Medford for only $20 more/head than into Eugene. His buddy is the associate golf course superintendent at Bandon Dunes. We are debating going for 4-6 days. CHIEF Jr. and I both want to see Grove of the Titans down by Cresent City, then head to Bandon for a couple of days to eat, golf, and hang out with the wedding party. If we are there for six days gonna hit up Crater Lake. We will probably have some of the groomsmen with us, any "can't miss" breweries in the area? Mrs. CHIEF and I will probably hit a couple of wineries as well. CHIEF
  16. CTJ could give Worthy a three Mississippi count and still beat him by three yards, all while doing it backpedaling. CHIEF
  17. I’d rather be pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain….personally. CHIEF
  18. Those cattle weren't fleeing the smoke, they were chasing the feed truck with the blaring siren. CHIEF
  19. It’s like fishing at the coast with a slack tide. Nothing hitting bait but hardheads and lady fish. CHIEF
  20. Just got a text from my crawfish guy, prices are staying around $7.99/lb. Apparently the killer right now is mortality. He said that about a 3rd of each bag is dead. An abnormal amount of crawfish are molting in the crawfish sacks and getting crushed to death. CHIEF
  21. We stopped by the boiling booth outside of our HEB yesterday, to get an idea of how much crawfish were going for by the pound, and to gauge the size. Turns out, all they had was shrimp, and a sign that said they wouldn't have crawfish until March. CHIEF
  22. The Texas State sugar babies will be impressed with a guy that can spend $195k on an ounce and a half drone. Surly that price tag has to be wrong. CHIEF
  23. My dad worked for Santa Fe Railroad when I was a little kid. GM would ship car parts in these thin veneer wooden shipping crates. He wanted me to start hunting with him when I was about 5-6 years old. He found three post oaks that were growing in a triangle and nailed three 2x6s about 30 feet up. He took two of the shipping crates, took an end off of each one and fastened them together on top of the three 2x6s, and threw in a bus seat. He nailed 2x4 steps to one of the trees to get in it. So, it was open top and exposed to the elements and was still referred to as "the Taj Mahal" of the lease. He would shit a rubber turkey if he saw my hunting set up today (Fridge, TV, a/c, solar electricity). CHIEF
  24. Could NASA just send another probe with a robot repairman to go “bang it on the side?” That’s how my old man used to get our 46 year old TV to straighten up. CHIEF
  25. It's a hundred yard shot just shooting straight down. I've seen one of these before, apparently those towers were made in the 50s and 60s. A friend, in Bosque county, had a ranch behind ours. He had one that was not quite as tall, but probably still 25 foot. It had a Ford 8N tractor seat welded to the top, no gun rest, safety railing, or safety strap. He offered to let me hunt it, but I told him it would be too uncomfortable sitting on the giant balls you would have to have to pull that stunt. CHIEF
