Exactly. Hell, the guns should not even have a firing pin. edit: I suppose they would need a firing pin to shoot the blanks. But not sure how that works.

Lake Travis 2024: Countdown To Zero
This. Lake Travis goes up and down--that's what it does. https://www.golaketravis.com/waterlevel/ We can look at the data in many ways depending on your outlook and agenda. The very current trend doesn't look good. Looking at the 10 highest levels ever, 8 of the highest levels have occurred since December 1991. Looking at the lowest 10 levels ever, 6 of the lowest levels have occurred in that time. If you look at 2010 to the present, two of the highest levels ever have occurred in that time, while three of the lowest levels ever have occurred since 2010.

OJ Simpson has died
IIRC, he got over $300k annually from his NFL pension. Creditors cannot get to it. But they took the rest.

OJ Simpson has died
This. And the judge was horrible. No way that case needed 11 months to try. He would hold a separate hearing to determine whether he needed to have a hearing.

Subcontinental Shrimp Shelled, Sorted, Shipped to Sicken You
One of the pluses to staying/fishing at Hackberry Lodge south of Lake Charles is the fresh shrimp they sell at the lodge. I’m sure other lodges in Louisiana sell shrimp as well. They said the shrimp were not from the large commercial shrimpers that stay offshore for a week or so at a time and flash freeze the shrimp, but from local bay shrimpers. Either way, the shrimp are fantastic. When I used to go offshore on chartered trips from Freeport a favorite thing was to trade a case or two of beer for a sack of shrimp from the offshore shrimpers. Not sure if that shrimp was ever frozen but it was fantastic. I agree with the OP-never buy farm raised shrimp.

Random thoughts that don't warrant a thread
This 100%. Loved Letterman in the 80’s. Carson is still the GOAT.

Steely Dan
Shitty beer? Schlitz beer until around 1978 or so was fantastic. They fucked with the recipe, and had some terrible ads, and it basically died. I don’t remember the Steely Dan ad.

Random thoughts that don't warrant a thread
The evaluation of talent by professional and collegiate teams has always been interesting. The so-called experts get it wrong quite often. Here are just a few that come to mind. Albert Pujols was a 13th round pick. Sam Bowie was chosen over Michael Jordan in the 84 draft. Ryan Leaf was the second overall pick in 98. Brady was a 6th round pick and Montana was a 3rd round pick. And how many 4-5 star recruits out of HS never panned out at UT? I've always thought that men are still physically developing into their 20's and it's hard to tell which athletes will get to the next level and which have already peaked. And then there's the issue that the perceived top HS and college players often play against different levels of talent and it's hard to compare them to each other.

The Kids (Aren't) Alright - World Happiness Report
Gotta be fake news. Post-menopausal women don’t have sex. Ask my wife.

Most annoying instrument?
This is the answer, especially in tejano music. Can’t stand it. It’s just one song that is played over and over, right?

The Kids (Aren't) Alright - World Happiness Report
I agree with much of what's posted so far--especially the impact of social media on our youth. There's also the issue of news reporting in general which finds its way into social media. The book Factfulness, by the late Hans Rosling (a retired MD from Sweden and a social democrat) and his son and daughter-in-law gives a good explanation of how news is reported and how people get a grossly incorrect understanding of the human condition on very important issues, such as world health, women's education, the levels of poverty around the world, etc. In addition, having co-raised two daughters, now almost 33 and 30, and seeing how they and their friends navigated high school and the somewhat early days of social media, I observed that their generation and those younger lived in a world of superlatives. "Awesome" was used in every sentence. If some high level of achievement wasn't reached it seemed like the endeavor was a failure. Everything--vacations, college admissions, first job, etc. had to be the best or it was a disappointment. Sadly, many of my girls' peers were disappointed a lot. And getting back to social media, people report on the highlights of their lives so the disappointment hits home.

No, the parents that are UT exes. Still pissed their kids didn’t get into UT.

I really hope UVa doesn’t win and then beat UT. I have several UT friends whose kids couldn’t get into UT but got into UVA. Some of them, amazingly to me, will pull for UVa against their own school. I’ll never understand it.
