Bought a Samsung fridge when we moved into our house in 2015. It’s the biggest piece of shit in our home. Ice maker went out within two years and now it can barely stay cool, or you know, refrigerate. Neighbor moved in a few months after us, bought the same fridge and has had the same issues.
Terrible mechanics in sports movies. I really love Bull Durham. I love it as much as anyone, but man Tim Robbins throwing a pitch is cringy as hell. Same with the Harris, the older pitcher in Major League.
Some movies do it great. Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some is probably the gold standard for athletes in movies. Even A League of their Own supposedly ran pretty rigid baseball tryouts before casting.
a funny footnote to add is that Charlie Sheen juiced up for the filming of Major League and was throwing a legit mid 80’s in the movies. They moved mound up 10 feet to make it appear even a little faster than that.
A long time producing partner and close friend of Norm’s was on Bill Simmons’ podcast yesterday and he said that he and, to his knowledge, most all of Norm’s inner circle was oblivious to his battle with cancer. Just very close family and doctors were aware. He said, though, that many quietly thought that Norm was having health issues, especially in the past year, but it was never talked about and nobody assumed it was cancer.
Damn… damn… damn…. Probably not the most mature response, but I felt kinda mad about the news of Norm’s passing. Probably because I’ve spent countless nights over the past 10 years or so going deep downNorm rabbit holes on YouTube. Absolute expert at timing. RIP, Norm.
Two of my favorite clips that I don’t think have been posted yet.

Imelda dropped 20-40” of rain in/around Houston in 2019. I’m in Atascocita and we got about 25” in what seemed to be a 3 hour window. Top and bottom pictures were taken just a few hours apart. Luckily, the drainage started working again and we made out alright, but once the water got close to little bevo, we started moving some things to higher ground.
I agree that Harvey should be considered the exception and not the type of storm we should expect other storms to develop into, but Allison was a thousand year storm only to see a worse storm happen 16 years later.
