  1. I'm not sure if it's tips or advice, but in my experience middle school coaches are not the cream of the crop of the coaches in the district. If they were good coaches, they'd probably be at the high school. There will likely be a ton of kids out there, so the kids don't get the attention that most of them need. Basically, all the boys play in 7th grade and then it slowly dwindles in 8th and 9th. I've had boys play for middle school and youth football leagues in middle school. When we lived in Texas, they had middle school ball. My 17 year old (going into his senior year) played middle school in 7th grade. Then when we moved up to Missouri, they didn't have middle school ball, so he played youth league. He was fortunate that the youth coach that year was a former high school varsity head coach and had taken a position as a principal, so no high school coaching anymore. That was the year that my son turned it on. Best coaching he ever had. In short, it depends on the coaching staff at the middle school. Good luck and I hope he enjoys it.
  2. That visitor section is like home side seating in Missouri. We moved up here a few years back and my kids were not impressed with the high school football stadiums.
  3. LOL... "STOP... PLEASE". That's when they should have juiced him again just for good measure. Actually, they should have kept hitting him with it until he cried.
  4. You don't want to know.
  5. Daddy forked over a couple of grand to live vicariously through his little chunk.
  6. Clemson, but that would be in calendar year 2020, right?
  7. But it keeps hot stuff hot, cold stuff cold. Should have been able to put a gallon of ice cream and a pot of coffee in there.
  8. Of course they do absolutely fucking nothing today. Jesus, it is getting frustrating being a fan of this team with the shitty front office.
  9. I was 13 during the 82 Series and living in STL. My mom was able to get 2 tickets to a home Series game. She was the only woman in the pool. The men took earlier games so that they would have a guaranteed game to attend. Mom got game 7. I watched that game at home while my parents went. I was a little jealous. Dad and I went to quite a few games that year.We would walk up to the ticket window and Dad would ask for best 2 together. Normally we would get just behind the dugout behind third. I remember being in attendance and seeing Willie hitting an inside the park homerun once that year. It was amazing seeing that man round third at full speed. We were so close that I could hear his feet hitting the ground. Maybe I didn’t, but I definitely thought I could. That was such an amazing year.
  10. More stories... My family is all from North East Mississippi. That is Cardinals Country. At least it was until TBS was in every house. When I was a kid we moved around a lot, but the Cardinals were always around thanks to KMOX. When we lived in Chicago I was 8-10 years old. While there, there was a player from the Cubs that lived pretty close, was also from North East MS, and was looking for someone to help his wife during the day (they had a couple of young boys). One day we get a call at the house from him. He had asked folks back home if anyone knew folks in Chicago and we came up. Anyway, my sister started going over to their house pretty much every day to babysit and jus help out. His neighbor was also a Cubs player. As an added bonus for me, he would come over to our house, pick my sister and me (plus a friend) up and then head back over to his house. My sister would stay and he and his neighbor would bring me and my friend to Wrigley. This was virtually every home game during the summer. I did root for the Cubs when going, but it wasn’t enough to make me a fan. My dad also played American Legion ball with Don Blasingame when he was a kid. Dad also played some semi pro ball. The old man was just an athlete. Boy do I miss him. Getting a bit dusty in here.
  11. When I was a kid some of my best memories are driving from Chicago down to Tupelo. We could listen to the entire game on KMOX. Then when we moved to St Louis I would keep my transistor radio under my pillow and listen to all the games after I was sent to bed. While living in STL my dad and I would go to at least 1 game every home stand. Some of my fondest memories involve Cardinals baseball. Simpler times for sure.
  12. I'm picturing Farmer Fran from The Waterboy as the foremost authority on Cyber Security in the State of Louisiana.
  13. You just made the list, buddy.
  14. Because it's measurable. Just throwing out "hey, our goal is to be better" isn't specific. Yeah, UofH isn't the best school, but props to the guy for setting specific goals.
  15. Absolutely right. I'm surprised at how much of my advice that my oldest in the Air Force actually listened to. We were fortunate that he didn't make any major screw ups before he started heeding my advice.
  16. I wanted to add that you may want to tell him to wait until after the deployment. A deployment will tell him everything that he needs to know about her. If she's still around and hasn't shacked up with someone else, then maybe it's okay. However, if he says that SHE can't wait and wants to be married before he leaves, then she's likely going to spend every fucking cent that he makes while deployed. Also, the Army won't send him home to fix shit if his wife is fucking around. That can make for a VERY long deployment.
  17. Yeah, I hate to be an asshole, but the odds are horrible that this marriage will work. I got married when in the Marines and was divorced in 6 years. Many of my friends went through similar shit. My oldest (from that first marriage) is in the Air Force and I made him promise me that he wouldn't get married during his first enlistment. The pay sucks and the wife will fuck you over as soon as you deploy. My oldest has been in for 7 years or so and is still single. He did get involved with a girl that has a couple of kids but he broke it off after a couple of months and his realization that she's a piece of shit and a bit crazy. Anyway, here's to the upcoming nuptials. I seriously hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.
  18. You should respond that she doesn't need to worry about finances, as that's a man's job.
  19. I use the CallControl app on my phone. Ever since I installed it, I don't think that I have received any of these calls. I may miss some legitimate calls, bit IDGAF about that.
  20. Sitting on the deck after work with a beer and watching the hummingbirds.
  21. Thanks. Yeah, I am pretty certain that if he were to get an appointment to any service academy he can get out of any enlistment contract. To be honest though, he simply is not prepared to go to a service academy. Hell, I don't think that he is ready to go to any college just yet. He lacks self motivation. Boot camp will open his eyes. He continues to get emails from USMA, but he has his head set on Navy Nuke. I am actually happy that he has made his decision and is sticking to it. So, in a year, he will be heading to Great Lakes for boot camp. I can help him in that regard. It has been over 30 years, but I went to Marine Corps boot camp. I can get his head ready for the fuck fuck games and his body ready. Based on his intelligence and everything else that he has going for him, the confidence that boot camp will give him will do wonders. I really believe that this kid can do anything once he gets confidence and self motivation.
  22. They're still shitty.
