Trivial things that please the ever living shit out of you
I kept forgetting to post this and was reminded about it yesterday. We were driving on some back roads yesterday through farmland. For some reason, I get a fairly high degree of satisfaction when the crops are planted in rows that are perpendicular to the roadway. Everything is just perfectly aligned. Trivial, but pleasing.

Dumbass Shit We See On Facebook
That's fake, right? Right? No way that someone could seriously get mad about a kid outside playing.

Stolen Valor
My sister's father-in-law was a Marine during Korea, but that's about all that her or her husband (his son) knew. One day when I was at my sister's house, her husband gave me a book and said that I may like it. It was a biography about a guy that had retired from the Marine Corps. Originally enlisted in the Army at the tail end of WW2, got and went into the Marines and served in Korea and Viet Nam. The guy had really been through hell. During Korea he was captured by the Norks and had been handed over to the ChiComs and held as a POW in a political re-education camp. They actually did end up escaping and it was quite the story. Now for the interesting part of the story. While reading the book and the part about the escape, my sister's father-in-law's name showed up as one of the leaders of the escape and received a medal with a V device for his actions. I asked my brother-in-law where he got the book, and he said that his dad had given it to him. I asked him if he read it, and he said no. I then let him know that his dad was a key person in it during the Korea portion. His dad didn't like to talk about his military service. When I first got out of the Marine Corps and moved near them, he really kind of opened up. We talked about the book, and of course he said that he didn't feel like what he did was any different than what any other Marine would have done in the situation. He also told me that he was just some admin guy on a convoy delivering mail when they got captured. As for me, I was a computer guy. Never did anything much. Never went into a combat zone. Served from 1988-1999 and spent much of Desert Shield/Storm guarding the Northern Front in Norway (exercise). Spent a little time in Cuba during the Cuban and Haitian migration of the early 90's. Then when I got out, I did get to a couple of combat zones, but as a contractor it's much different. Long story - My sister's father-in-law was a good man that did some amazing things that didn't like to talk about it to many people. I'm a vet, and proud to have served, but I also get very uncomfortable when people thank me for my service. In all honesty, it was an honor and privilege to have served and I wouldn't trade it for anything. So, thank you to all you tax payers for paying me to do some pretty cool shit and learn a skill that has parlayed into a pretty good career for me. Oh, and stolen valor guys are creepy and I don't quite get why they go through such elaborate stories for no apparent reason.

Heathen. That's obviously Pâté. It goes well with spaghetti noodles and ketchup (or catsup).

And whatever the fuck happens to those tattoos Think silly putty. When I was a youngster we would take the silly putty and press it against comics in the newspaper. You could stretch it out and it would look kind of funny. This would be the exact opposite though. Stretch the silly putty out, press against the comics, then somehow unstretch it. Adding: Okay, I'm thinking way too much about this, but if you made a bubble from silly putty and then got the transfer from the comics, and then let the air out you'd kind of get the same thing. I'm guessing some very elongated print that is impossible to tell what it is. Now on to more important things.

Post a pic that makes you lol
Went there a few weeks back. After we paid, the girl working the register yelled out "Thanks for picking Uranus!". I giggled and my boys really laughed.

Tell me about Aldi
It's where we do pretty much all of our grocery shopping. It's way cheaper than the regular grocery stores around here. They are easy to get in and out of, too. Most of them are pretty small, but they are very efficient at keeping stock on the shelves.

Do You Remember? 60s-80s
Had myself a sweet Huffy. Had the number plate on the handlebars and in the frame along with the mud guards/fender things on both wheels. Some friends and I were riding on some trails in the woods and I took a jump. Landed off the trail and impaled a stick in my forehead. I was pushing my bike out of the woods with blood streaming down my face when some lady in the neighborhood saw me, took me in their house and had my head in the sink under the running water, while at the same time calling my mom. Ended up with a trip to the emergency room, 17 stitches and a kick ass scar that is very visible today. Evel may have been in influence in that decision.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
Coming up to a traffic circle (round about for you non-Mericans) this morning and this lady, who was in the circle, stops in the circle because... I don't know. Keep going, genius. You're fucking it up for everyone because you're a moran.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
When you are in a parking lot and you stop your vehicle to let some pedestrian cross in front of you - and then instead of walking in a 90 degree angle across the lanes of traffic, they go across at a 45 degree angle.

Words and phrases that bug the living shit out of you
Guy at work says "I'm just saying" constantly. I'm not entirely sure why he says it so much. If you're talking, you're "saying". I tired of it within a couple of hours.

Post a pic that makes you say "Holy shit."
Yeah, I didn't watch it at first. After I saw the part about the dog surviving, I gave it a go. I did like the little white one nipping at the snek.
