2022 Transfer Thread - It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Baylor had a great season last year, but part of that was a favorable schedule and some timely meltdowns by opponents. They got Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, BYU, Iowa State, and Tech at home, where they were a much better team. Their road games were at Texas State (9 point win), Kansas (38 point win), Kansas State (10 point win), Oklahoma State (10 point loss) and TCU (2 point loss). ISU shot itself in the face multiple times in a close loss. Then OSU threw 4 picks in the conference championship game and somehow only lost by 5. I wouldn't pencil in a loss to Baylor just yet.

2022 Summer Season: Flavor-Aid (Strength: Prison Wine)
Okay, UTSA's schedule was pretty putrid. Michigan State had the same dynamic though - they went 10-2 with pretty mediocre advanced stats and the 25th hardest schedule. Iowa State was ranked higher on offense and defense and 19th overall in SP+, but went 6-6 against the 39th toughest schedule. They found ways to lose... just not to Texas. On a related not, aggy went 8-4 versus the 48th toughest schedule.

No, the metrics are opponent adjusted. Here's the description: F+ Ratings combine Brian Fremeau's FEI ratings with Bill Connelly's SP+ ratings in equal parts. Overall team ratings (F+), offense ratings (OF+), and defense ratings (DF+) represent each team and unit's standard deviation above or below average. FEI ratings (FEI) represent the per-possession scoring advantage a team would be expected to have on a neutral field against an average opponent, based on opponent-adjusted possession efficiency data. SP+ ratings (SP+) are tempo- and opponent-adjusted measures of college football efficiency based on play-by-play and drive data designed to be predictive and forward-facing. Team records (Rec) represent results against FBS opponents only.

Like momentum, knowing how to win seems pretty real. We had a better offense (31st vs 32nd) and defense (67th vs 75th) than UTSA. UTSA managed to win a bunch of close games and go 11-2 while we... didn't. If it makes anyone feel better, Nebraska had a much better defense than Texas (19th vs 75th) and about the same offense (30th vs 31st) and they only won 2 games. If our defense played like Nebraska's we'd probably have been in the conference championship game.

Fuck around and find out what, exactly? That bringing in mercenaries and headcases to a shit hole like College Station may not work out? No shit. Did your sources also tell you water is wet? Of course aggy over promised and under delivered. It's kind of their thing.

Is it bad form to decommit and then commit to a new school the same night? I'm asking for a friend...

TEXAS QB TALK
I'm glad we have both, but I'd take Ewers over Arch any day. Ewers is a better athlete, has a stronger arm, played better competition, and earned the hype. Arch appears to be both really good and over-rated. It's pretty ideal for the next couple of years. We get Ewers on the field and Arch providing a recruiting bump.

He could be a career backup and this would still be a huge pick up for Texas.

2023 QB Arch Manning
Wait, so I should not listen to folks who thought Reggie McNeal was better than Vince Young and are convinced Zach Calzada/Haynes King/literally any QB wearing a maroon jersey is a Heisman sleeper? Whew, I feel better now.
