I don’t disagree. Look at the over abundance of speed bumps on side streets that have been installed since the work on Bee Caves Road started. Much bigger pain in the ass to residents but a few noisy types convinced the council that they would slow down cut through traffic. They, of course, haven’t. You think Austin neighborhood groups are NIMBY? Go to a West Lake City Council meeting where an owner wants a variance to remove a 14” circumference cedar tree.
I guarantee you that the West Lake Hills residents pay more taxes to the City of Austin in the form of sales tax than the City of Austin, Bee Cave and Lakeway residents that cut through West Lake to use the low water bridge pay in West Lake taxes. And believe me, knowing many of my neighbors, and reading the shitshow that is Nextdoor, lots of West Lake residents would be fine gating off Westlake Drive and Redbud to non-residents in exchange for giving up the Red Bud Bridge.
Rumor going around campus that the water is going to be so bad after tomorrow that residents will be advised not to use it for sanitizing, bathing, dishwashing, hand washing or laundry. Son just sent me a text from a friend of his who works for one of the water districts. Guess it's time to panic buy again.
This was posted on Austin Reddit. Check out the difference in color of the water in Travis and Lake Austin. Obviously because it comes out of the bottom of Travis where it’s settled, but that shit isn’t settling in Lake Austin anytime soon. Lake Travis is enormous. It’s going to take a while for this stuff to go away if they keep any gates open.

Why isn’t Morrison’s vote against Water Treatment Plant 4 in 2011 getting more play? The City was already hellbent on increasing density downtown at that point and selling out to the tech industry, and she comes out against basic infrastructure for health and safety like increased water capacity? I mean I get, kind of, her opposition to development in the center city because of her background in nymby Austin neighbood groups. But this quote should derail her campaign as City Council malpractice
"As for the City of Austin, I opposed the construction of Water Treatment Plant #4, because I do not support building expensive infrastructure that could be rendered unnecessary for many years through conservation efforts. I support the implementation of the recommendations of the Water Conservation Task Force to reduce the city’s daily water consumption to 140 GPD and believe this goal is achievable. "
Which side of the 29 bridge is that Deej? Apparently the owners of Camp Longhorn were encouraged to vacate their homes around Camp Longhorn down closer to the spillway.
In theory they could have opened up Wertz and Starke earlier and dropped those lakes down well below constant level, and then allowed the flood waters to fill it up without flooding while continuing to pass water down through Mansfield and Tom Miller (earlier). But I can't imagine that's even considered. What happens then if the flood isn't as bad? You're left with low lakes that you have to fill back up (which I guess you could do by letting water out of Buchanan and over the Inks spillway, but then you end up depleting Buchanan?).
Also, LCRA should take over Longhorn Dam. It makes no sense that the last dam in the line is controlled and maintained by the City instead of LCRA. Some dude just called into Jeff Ward's show and was making this point.
Disregard the "maximum". Looks like it can be higher than that for larger families. That looks to be pretty close to the max for a 2 member household though.
It's applicable for 2017 tax year. Penalty is based on a percentage of income, with a maximum penalty is $5,984. If you have compliant coverage for one day in any month, that amount is reduced by 1/12.
that iHop is always jammed. I don't see it closing. TL&C was perfect for that place because it didn't do enough business to make parking a problem, and there's not near enough parking if some restaurant opens and does well.
