I actually looked it up before I made the post. Please do yourself a favor and do the same Total auto fatalities under age 65 in 2018 were ~50k. Estimated CV deaths so far under age 65 is ~40k. There is still room to grow, of course, but if it surpasses it won’t be by much. And it’s not even close if you look at 55 and younger, even factoring in the “stupid young drivers” factor. I’d advise you to do your own research and come to your own conclusions if you think I’m wrong in some way or that the numbers I present above justify completely overturning our society and economy and the lives of young people and businesses that are dependent on CFB Again, burden of proof is a real thing.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
This is the opposite of what is happening.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
I’m not telling people to upend their lives and be afraid of an illness that will kill fewer people under 65 in the US this year than will die in car wrecks.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
They are pushing a political narrative. Just like the governors in the BIG and pac states.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
The same reason the county judges and mayors in Texas tried to stop school from starting a couple of weeks ago: Stop it now before people realize that the panic is not as justified as advertised.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
The real answer lies in the CR.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
Don't think I've ever seen a post that had 12 reactions and a net rep effect of zero (so far), much less anything I've ever posted personally. Talk about polarization.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
Clickbait link is clickbaity. “Nobody’s writing about the B12, lets write one about them and just rearrange the same bullshit article we’ve been writing a different way.”- College Football in 2020 in danger?
What exactly would they do differently - as students - if they did or didn't play football? Or to phrase it another way - what does playing football do exactly that makes them more of a danger to those at-risk populations?- College Football in 2020 in danger?
It's also nothing new. It can happen with any viral infection. My son developed it from a run of the mill adenovirus infection a few years ago when he was 10 and took a couple of months to recover. But he eventually recovered. Point being, it's already rare. It might be slightly less rare with covid than other viruses, but it's still a minor risk.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
But - again - that has nothing to do with whether there is a football season or not.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
So... tell the players to stay out of nursing homes and cancer wards? You don't have to cancel the season. And even so, there is nothing special about college athletics that endangers at-risk populations more just because sports are being played. They're still at risk in either circumstance.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
And this is a very fair point that I do not disagree with. But it gets back to my primary opinion that except for very well defined at risk populations (old people and inform people), this isn't the plague we thought it was and we never worried before about unionizing college athletes over a low-risk (to them) respiratory disease. Plenty of athletes at all schools catch viruses.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
They would only be out of action "for weeks" because we choose for them to be because the entire world is a bunch of gigantic pussies right now. But there's no medical reason for them to be out of action any longer than if they caught regular influenza, probably less if they aren't actually ill or having symptoms. Everyone acts like it's the end of the world if you catch it. It's not. It's not even close unless you are old or infirm. Let it spread and let people be immune. People have been spreading viruses and getting sick and then getting well for thousands of years. It's nothing new. People are panicking because they are being told to panic, not because the numbers actually say they should.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
MLB is doing a fantastic job IMO by not panicking and just postponing games and not acting like it's the end of the world for people to catch it, which it's not.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
On your side.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
How many players and coaches and staff members already die every year from other causes like cancer and heart attacks and stroke and whatever else? How is this any different except to teams that have 80+ year old coaches? Bill Snyder retired, after all.- College Football in 2020 in danger?
They won’t do it unless they can persuade everyone to do it. Hold firm, you three.- 2020 Texas Offseason Thread: Herman's Hail Mary
Bunch of bullshit. But it's a year so far that's full of bullshit, so what's new?- The Gun Owner’s thread
WOLVERINES!!!!!!- 2020 Hurricane Season w/ special guest Covid-19
Just had a heck of a rain shower move through Sugar Land east to west. Very gusty winds and 0.25" in about 5-10 minutes. I always forget how intense these things can get even on the outer edge.- Cowboy Boots
The quality is probably shit but I think that's a pretty boot.- Let's Talk Tractors , Implements and Such
