  1. Chopped tonight had the guys from 2M and Truth and a couple of people I've never heard of. The guy from Truth won it. I find the competitions hokie... they have BBQ ingredients but it ain't BBQ. And it's nice to see my friend Ernie doing great things, now as a judge on Chopped.
  2. I don't know - I've seen some pretty nutty anti circumcision people. Get them going and they turn out to be real dicks.

At least Beto hasn't violated federal election laws. "Oops, I forgot that was a million dollar loan and not my own money" - Stupid or liar, Ted?
  4. The Satanic Temple vs Church of Satan.

My wife's from Del Rio. She, thankfully, escaped. That town has some major gravity - its pretty hard for a large part of the population to escape and so they just kinda get stuck there for generations. There's maquilladora's, government and retail and that's about it. Went with her to her 20th reunion, that was a freaking blast. The kids that did escape, did really well. The ones that didn't, *sigh*. Anyways, I've met some great friends that she went to school with.
  6. http://theoldsanfrancisco.com Sorta kinda not really. It's still there but it's now an event space and it looks like they no long have the whore in the swing.

Yep. When he came to New Braunfels, it was a decent crowd, but it wasn't the humongous ones he's pulling now.
  10. Looks like it may still be around in Florida, if the same chain, PoFolks. We used to eat at one it seemed like every week. They had a folksy hillbilly schtick in the way they wrote the menu. Drinks came in a Mason jar. Miss that place
  11. Yes. There's definitely one in Bossier City.
  12. Would have to be a US Citizen for it to matter.
  13. Had a vendor take us to Hays County today. Got a 1/4 pound brisket, jalapeno cheese sausage, hatch green chili mac and cheese. Was delicious as always.
  14. Your opinion sucks (just kidding - what you said is spot on).
  15. I haven't been there and I know I enjoyed Mi Tierra and its a good time.
  16. Be a tourist - go to Mi Tierra. She'll love it. Walk around Market Square. Riverwalk - ride the boats. Its hokey, but I promise she'll never forget it. Maybe eat at some place on the river like Casa Rio.
  17. Didn't maninblack used to say that he was a libertarian? What changed?

    FWIW, her.
  19. Big & Bright got back to me - its all ages. So game on.
  20. So, I can't figure out this Big & Bright Festival. Its being put on by Kissing Tree and Texas Monthly. Kissing Tree is a 55+ community outside of San Marcos. And the website and tickets really don't say anything about ages other than in the FAQ there is a question about 'Can Children Attend' and the answer is that grandkids and grandpups are welcome. So I think its open to everyone, but I emailed them to make sure. Anyways, on Saturday September 15th from 12-2pm, they are going to have BBQ Shop Talk with Daniel Vaughn Looks pretty interesting, and I am a fan of Hays County. I already signed the wife and I up and am awaiting the age answer. They also have a (non bbq) Starry Sky Campfire & Concert that night with some good sounding campfire foods, chats with The Texanist and some music.

In college (yall know where) I was pretty conservative. Attended some College Republican meetings, cheered for Phil Gramm when he announced his run for the presidency, that sort of thing. Met my wife, left school and we've only drifted further liberal and I'm pretty sure that isn't going to reverse course. (Just another data point against the old 'everyone becomes conservative as they get older' line).

The wind blew a different direction. The Cuban Canadian changed his rhetoric to go with the wind. Same old Rafael Edward Cruz as always.
  23. I didn't ship it, but bought a frozen brisket at Franklin and heated and sliced it before, it was delicious. I'd order from Snow's and get it delivered to him, no intervention needed by you, just cold hard cash.
