  1. The best players/athletes on most high school and college teams usually play SS. They get sorted out more at the next level
  2. I was very specifically talking about the Thousand Oaks/Henderson Pass/Jones Maltsberger area. That pocket is like a time capsule. Obviously everything north of 1604 has changed dramatically. Also pretty ironic to call out my knowledge of the area while you call Encino park “Encinitas park”
  3. I hope all searchers are made aware of the hidden dangers, the silt and dirt turned up by the river has lots of dangerous bacteria in it. Very bad news if it gets into an open wound. 5 survivors of the Joplin tornado were killed by bacterial infections they got from the river silt thrown around by the tornado.
  4. It’s rained 4 out of my 5 dynasty ganes so far. It’s actively killing my desire to play
  5. There’s a decent percentage of mean, rude, racist, nosy, cliquey people that I want to avoid too. Not just the militant ones. Add in the lack of activities and resources and I don’t think I could live in a small town again.
  6. By 192 games. That’s a full season. Plus 30 games
  7. I moved here in 2013, and I also lived here for several years in the 2000s as a kid. That area has been the same as long as I can remember. Quiet and chill.
  8. You guys are waxing nostalgic about an area that has probably hardly changed at all since the 80s. There’s even still a CD exchange at bitters and 281.
  9. The dozens of Rockies fans that remember his time there are disappointed for sure.
  10. They’re rapid firing trainwrecks and they’re only getting shittier. I saw episode one of the London bombing doc and it’s pretty good so far though
  11. If you don’t know you Cam Schlitter is you better fucking learn. Also, who were the posters that were calling me stupid and a moron for saying the A’s would never ever move to Vegas? It was last year or the year before, I feel like scraps was one of them. Who’s the idiot now?
  12. I went to Manziel’s last ever high school game, Tivy was playing Lake Travis in San Antonio. Johnny was playing defense and returning kicks too. Thats all I know really.
  13. He’s still a San Antonio kid though and I’ll always pull for those. From what I hear he’s a national top 10 type of player. Will be kind of cool to know I was the first to put him on this boards radar.
  14. Friend of mine drove up to kerrville yesterday to volunteer at the Salvation Army warehouse, helping unpack donations and make care packages and stuff. He said no one was allowed to get near the river, as they just wanted actual search and rescue people down there. He did hear they would probably need volunteers to help with cleanup come August or end of this month, sounded like the priority is recovering bodies for the near future. He said there was a sobering number of cadaver dogs.
  15. Is this the thread where we can point out that it’s maybe not the best idea to have your youngest campers in the cabins closest to the river? In an emergency flood situation you really want to have to worry about getting the youngest campers to safety? The cabins up the hill where the older girls are were fine.
  16. I was wondering why the opening scene seemed like a copy of the opening scene in godzilla 2014 at the nuclear plant. Same director
  17. I live in San Antonio. We had a flash flood last month that killed 13 people, wall of water swept 20 cars off of loop 410. About 2-3 times since then there’s been torrential downpours, had to drive through one. Thankfully those were short lived. Last night was terrible as well obviously. It’s been a very strange summer, if it rains it’s exclusively been through extremely violent thunderstorms.
  18. You guys know there’s no salary caps right? There’s no budget? All this talk of “tying up money” in recruits is nonsense. We have almost unlimited money to spend and we should start acting like it. Do the Dodgers give a shit how much money they have tied up in Ohtani or Betts or Kershaw or anyone else? Do they let it stop them from signing more stars? No.
  19. Seeing on Reddit from people in the area (not officially confirmed) that they’re down to 10 campers and 2 counselors missing. The rest are alive and accounted for, several had to be rescued. One poster is claiming a dam broke up in Ingram and washed away his campsite.
  20. Yes but there’s a lot of distance between central Kendall county and canyon lake
  21. Jasssson figuring things out at the plate, 2 homers today so far. Maybe we will win a game
  22. After intentionally walking Judge 5 times in 3 games. Also, tonight Judge broke Mantle’s franchise record for most IBB’s in a season. On July fucking 3rd. Manfred wants to grow the game, bring in more fans, drive up attendance, how about making teams actually face the superstars of the game? How about letting them showcase their ability? You limit the shift and other things, why not limit intentional walks? It’s pussy ass bullshit.
  23. North shore has a pretty terrible baseball program. No “great” team is losing to them. Sounds like you guys fucking suck. I’m also looking forward to Sanchez breaking the bust myth around the program.
