  1. Soccer isn’t popular at all in south or west Texas, it’s just like the rest of the state in that way. The RGV actually had a USL team that had to relocate a few years ago due to low attendance. It’s popular among 1st gen Latin American immigrants but quickly drops in popularity with their kids. I don’t really know why. I have a huge extended family and none of us are into soccer except the ones still in Mexico.
  2. Mark Soto at Judson steps down as HC after 4 abysmal years. That 42-0 first round loss to Laredo United was the nail in his coffin. Will be interesting to see who the next coach is. Despite the recent demographic shift and declining enrollment, and the host of district turmoil, there’s still decent talent at that school, enough for them to be dangerous if led in the right direction. But I doubt they will get a good candidate given the financial issues there.
  3. Damn, looking at his stats that kid is an INT machine. Hopefully Sark wises up to that soon.

Too late to edit, but I’ll retract that last post. Greenland actually does have a population of over 55,000 and has been inhabited for thousands of years.
  5. Helobious replied to Zavala's topic in Daily Texan
That’s the thing though, they don’t have to. Greenland has no permanent settlements, so no one truly “lives” there. The fact we wouldn’t be invading anyone’s home is easier to digest.

You guys watch way too many war movies. No one is going to stand up to us to defend science outposts and small fishing villages. We aren’t invading a populated place, no one’s fighting us to defend a glorified iceberg. If we want it we will take it. This is just us foolishly trying to swing our dick around. It’s Texas scheduling a game against Mary Hardin-Baylor. Yes you will easily win, but what the fuck are you even trying to accomplish?
  7. Helobious replied to Zavala's topic in Daily Texan
This is pure fantasy. No official government in the world is going to stand up to US military power. They will step aside if we show up and allow us to take control, why risk any loss of life in a futile effort? Now a fanatical guerilla force, that would give us problems. But my question is why do we want this frozen shithole anyway? The “resources” argument is nonsense. They have nothing we can’t already get elsewhere.
  8. Looks like he kicked around NFL practice squads for 4 seasons and is currently into crypto
  9. USA should cruise, no one can touch that pitching staff. Hoping Mexico has another good showing. The 2023 tourney was an absolute classic.
  10. Checked the standings today, spurs having a surprisingly good season. If you’re the GM you have to trade Wemby soon right? That dude is not going to be healthy much at all in his career, you sell extremely high now and get a king’s ransom in return. I saw a stat that players 7’3 and taller miss over 30% of their games on average.
  11. Indiana only practices for about 5 hours a week. I doubt NFL teams practice that little.
  12. Hopefully S2 eskews the lame human drama for more monster related subplots. It does look like they’ll have to retcon some stuff from the monsterverse given this season is supposed to take place in 2017.
  13. Stroh’s game against Florida might be the worst performance I’ve ever seen from a UT player. It’s up there with Swoopes vs Arkansas and some Garrrett Gilbert games. Not counting the 2009 B12 title game vs Nebraska as that was a collective o-line effort.
  14. Someone on Reddit did the math and figured out the average age of Miami’s starters is 3 months older than Indiana’s (they did years since high school graduation in their calculation since age data is hard to find). It’s like 22.5 vs Indiana’s 22.2 or something. Point is, if you want to win in modern CFB having a roster of solid veteran players is the way to go over young highly rated players.
  15. I can’t imagine not buying a RokuTV or Vizio or something like that in this day and age. Big screens, TV is super light, plug it into the wall. One cord involved to get the whole thing working. Connect it to WiFi, download relevant streaming apps, enjoy. Remote has maybe like 8 buttons total on it.
  16. Minor pet peeve, anything alive is also actively dying.
  17. That’s not in the nature of most basketball players though. The NBA had to invent a mid-season tourney with big cash prizes to motivate players to try harder during the season.
  18. Fwiw, taking a contested catch specialist archetype or physical route runner WR in CFB 26 and moving him to TE is lethal. They burn by the LBs and safeties trying to cover them and all you need is adequate run blocking on occasion from them anyway. Sark should look into that instead of true TEs. It works in real life too (Kyle Pitts at Florida).
  19. Demond Williams going back to UW with his tail between his legs. Likely only because his agent was going to sue him for getting a deal with a 3rd party.
  20. I don’t even think it’s fun for most of them really. They’re constantly getting told by unqualified agents and other morons to go into the portal and ask for ridiculous money.
  21. I just googled it and found out I was incorrect. I assumed that given how many Polynesians are on BYU’s roster that the whole race was mormon.
  22. Almost all Polynesians are Mormon.
  23. I’ve talked so much about how absurd CFB rosters are. A typical Texas 6A high school will have roughly 80 varsity and JV players combined to pull from unless it’s one of the larger powerhouses. In the NFL you get like 60 active & practice squad players. But a college team needs 120+ players to operate? Makes no sense.
  24. Ffrench and Moore were seriously horrible WR evaluations.
  25. Get me Tony Diaz out of the portal and all will be forgiven
