Technically you are in right that the people ultimately decide everything, but I think similar regulation would fail a 1st amendment challenge. The government regulates broadcast because it's using a limited public asset: bandwidth frequency. When allowing private companies access to that asset, it's reasonable they charge fees and set content targets. But there is no excuse for radio.

I don't much about the race, but Talarico gets into my Facebook reels regularly. Either he has a lot more money or his team has a better digital approach. Or Crockett is focused on different platforms that are used by younger voters.
  3. For what it's worth, I don't agree with her setting fire to a warehouse either. But my objection is more of a question that strategy than morality. I think the administration is currently losing the narrative, at a critical time when there is a chance of reforming some of their worst practices. That is more important than some minor damage leased warehouse. It's a distraction. But, morally, if I thought it was effective...
  4. If I thought abortion was murder, I wouldn't have much issue setting fire to an empty property that was slated to be an abortion clinic. Would you? If you thought you could delay the murder of maybe 20 kids per week, would you find the law more compelling? "Good men must not obey the laws too well."
  5. Is there a limit to that philosophy? For example, do you condemn the actions of the French Resistance? If not, then it is a question of where that limit lies and whether we have crossed it.
  6. I may not be caught up on the thread - have the text messages and body cam from the attempted murder of Marimar Martinez been posted. This was the case in Chicago where they tried to charge Martinez with assault, claiming she "weaponized her car." In reality, the ICE criminals rammed her car and then Charles Exum shot her five time. From the NBCNews article: In one video, the agents in the vehicle have their weapons drawn, and one is heard saying, “It’s time to get aggressive and get the f--- out, because they’re trying to box us in.” “We’re going to make contact, and we’re boxed in,” another says. Exum is then seen quickly turning the steering wheel sharply to the left, and an apparent jolt from the impact of a collision immediately follows. Exum exits the vehicle, and shortly afterward, five gunshots are heard off camera. ... Exum's then text later: “I fired 5 rounds and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys.” .. “Read it. 5 shots, 7 holes.” ... “Everyone has been [supportive] including Chief Bovino, Chief Banks, Sec Noem and El Jefe himself … according to Bovino,” That last statement is supported by an email from Bovino: “I’d like to extend an offer for you to extend your retirement beyond age 57. ... In light of your excellent service in Chicago, you have much yet left to do!!” Ok, obviously Exum deserves to be in prison. But keep in mind, the DOJ referred to Martinez as a "domestic terrorist" and charged her with a crime. Everything from above was only accessed through discovery, so the government had everything. Granted, the case was dismissed after a federal prosecutor filed a motion to dismiss the case, so eventually someone realized it was fucking crazy. But how many DOJ cops and lawyers saw this evidence, specifically the body cam footage, and still decided to pursue criminals charges against Martinez? They should also go to prison.
  7. Prerecorded, meaning they filmed it ahead of time, with Rock singing into his microphone, and then edited the footage together later...but somehow fucked up the sync between audio and image. And now that I type that out, I don't know if that is still a thing in the age of digital. Maybe if he did multiple takes and the editor used the sound from take but the dancing from another. As opposed to lip sync, where the sound coming through the speakers isn't what is being sung into the microphone. Plenty of artists do this at live shows. I know Madonna copped to it for some of her songs, explaining that if she tried to sing after/during some of her dance sequences, she'd sound winded and the vocals would suck. And honestly, if the fans are more interested in the show than the songs, I don't really have issue with it. Of course some artists lip sync because they can't remember the words and/or their vocals are so shitty they need studio processing.
  8. It's hard to interpret this as some big moment for TPUSA when Kid Rock is spending his time the day after explaining that he didn't lip sync - that it was actually pre-recorded and the audio was out of sync with visual. So, their big counter to Bad Bunny is a poorly edited, taped recording. It's like a non-funny Flight of the Conchordes.

He is speaking to the portion of his base that just wants to hear shit talking nonsense. It's All Star wrestling. Reality is irrelevant.
  10. Jake, I wouldn't order any Cafe con Leche anytime soon.
  11. MAGA really just wants an Up With People reunion. That was when America was Great and the Beatles knew their place. I watched the SuperBowl at a packed Ethiopian bar in Seattle's Central District. My favorite part of the halftime were the Ethiopian bartenders dancing to the Puerto Rican act. A melting pot with a side of injera.
  12. But it's probably bullshit. I am not seeing an article on it. If it were real, the DOJ/White House would be talking about it 24/7 to argue how the protestors and observers are violent insurrectionists.

I've been saying this for a while. Many people approach politics like die-hard sports fans. You aren't going to logic people out of routing for their team. I am fucking Nebraska football fan. My team hasn't won a nationally relevant game in nearly 25 year (2001 OU). Yet I'm still a fan. I've been living in Seattle the last five years. 3 years ago, the Huskies played for the title. The Seahawks are playing in the Superbowl in a few days. I have alternatives, yet I'm still a Husker fan. It doesn't make sense. There is no logic to it. Take this plastic christian who is babbling along in this thread about his beliefs. Jesus never said shit about abortion or gay people. Both existing 2000 years ago. Yet the plastic christian pretends Jesus defines his beliefs and politics. It's fucking nonsense. Jesus did talk extensively about helping the poor and migrants. That doesn't matter to his faith. He will vote again and again for government sponsored cruelty to the vulnerable. He's got the fitted jersey with John 3:16 on the back, and that's the only thing that matters. Nobody is going to reason him out of that. There are some Trump voters who can be flipped. But not the die-hard fans.
  14. Looks like it. NBCNews.

Yep. And I think it's a stupid hold because you use both your arms and your face is still in their punch radius. There are probably ways to mitigate that, but I doubt the kid knows them. Just not a good idea to try to replicate it from the movies.
  16. Tuco replied to tx 3 putt's topic in Cloak Room
Part of me was thinking the same, but I am also glad that the kids aren't defaulting towards real violence. It's an entirely different wiring and one that doesn't square well with the modern world. There was one kid who went for a sleeper hold, which is a really bad idea.

That's pretty much the Zimmerman defense.

The Trump Access Selling business has been pretty lucrative.
  19. Love the energy from the kids, but someone needs to teach them how to do a full nelson.
  20. Yep. I had not seen how badly the spending bill flamed out. 8 Republican Senators voted it down? Holy fuck. Sure, but elections, at some point, is the only way we win. Keep protesting? absofuckinglutely
  21. I'll call it a victory. "Limited to immigrants to criminal charges or convictions" means they will either need to end the surge, or you will have a bunch of dipshits just sitting around doing nothing. The activists won this battle. Better yet, they showed every other city that it is a battle that can be won. Activists can't win the war. That needs to be done at the political level. At the ballot box. (There is other shit that needs to be done, like the prosecution of the ICE murderers, the firing of Noem and Miller, etc., but for this limited context, it's a win.)
  22. And, as usual, the solution is better management, which frequently means hiring more government employees and retaining them. Like the IRS, trivial increases in payroll could result in significant improvement in the federal bottom line. The failures are intentional. The "starve the beast" crowd want this.
