It was definitely a church thing. I never questioned why at the time although I would find it odd that it did not stop me from having to do other things like mowing the yard or something like that. My dad was rather strict thus I did not ask. Over the years, though still being an old school strict person, he has fished on Sunday’s while on vacation.
Son: I can't find the keys to my safe and I cannot remember the code or find the paper with the code written on it.
Wife: I was cleaning up and I put them in a safe place.
Dad: Where is that?
Wife: I can't remember.
I did not watch all of the interview as I only caught the end. Based upon my limited viewing and listening to what Harrison said and then hearing what Strahan said, my initial thought was “WTH Strahan, what do you want him to say?”
IIRC, Strahan even cited all of the things that Harrison was doing; learning, see an expert, etc.
"Out of the Fog" released in 1941 starring John Garfield and Ida Lupino with Thomas Mitchell, John Qualen and Eddie Albert. A tailor (Mitchell) and a cook (Qualen) plot to kill a Brooklyn racketeer (Garfield) demanding protection money for their boat. Naturally the female lead (Lupino), who is the daughter of the tailor, falls for the racketeer but ultimately sees the light and goes back to Albert, the steady boyfriend. Nice, quick movie running just under 1:30 hours. A crime movie with a bit of humor. Enjoyed it.
I really enjoy the old neon signs. I enjoy driving so when I go places I prefer to drive versus flying since I fly so much for work (at least used to) and I generally try to take the roads less traveled. As such, I am always driving past old buildings and signs. I keep saying that I am going to stop and take pictures of the signs but...I don't except on occasions!
My local TV station ran a story on this last night. Though they showed both sides of the story it was still probably 60/40 to 70/30 slanted toward the ones that wanted it removed. To the casual observer, who fails to do critical thinking or any thinking at all, I can see how the opinion is formed to have it removed.
"Little Caesar" released in 1930 starring Edward G. Robinson along with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Stanley Fields. An early gangster movie. The "dicks" in this movie crack me up as they play tough with the gangsters. First time to watch this one. Enjoyed it.
"The Maltese Falcon" released in 1941 starring Humphrey Bogart with Mary Astor, Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet. An all-time classic. A repeat watch for me.
I receive calls from current UT students asking me to donate to the school. I am going to start my own poll on what they think of the song as that will be my leading comment after they ask me for more money.
This is where the breakdown is. No one wants to compromise or take the time to understand anymore. The mob mentality takes over and things quickly escalate to a point of no return even if proven/disproven by fact otherwise.
"The Public Enemy" released in 1931. A classic gangster flick starring James Cagney with James Woods and a brief appearance by Jean Harlow. Two hoodlums rise up from the poverty-stricken slum life to become petty thieves, bootleggers and cold-blooded killers. An early gangster movie that helped cement Cagney in these types of roles. Enjoyed it.
"Destination Tokyo" released in 1943. A War era propaganda film typical of the time. It stars Cary Grant supported by John Garfield and, for comic relief, Alan Hale. A submarine captain handles Tokyo Bay, depth charges, a lodged bomb and a crewman's rushed appendectomy.
First time to see both of these films. Did not dissapoint.
Occasionally when I sleep, too much of my body goes to sleep. While sleeping from time to time my hands will partially go to sleep with just my pinky and ring fingers going "numb".
Do you ever get scared or nervous prowling around in some of these areas? Some of the locations appear a little "rough". Looks like you could easily be mugged and your equipment pawned for an easy fix! Or are you recognized as that crazy guy with a camera and they just leave you alone?!
Yep. Went online to look for videos to watch and came across the site. Ordered mine through Amazon and it will take just over a month for delivery. Must be printing on demand!
I have 8 large crepe myrtles. I hadn't even thought about them. I scratched the loropetalum and Indian Hawthorns; did not see any green. I have a bunch of these and they are massive. The azaleas showed some green so hopefully they will pull through.
My azaleas. Note how green the leaves are along the ground. These were all under the snow pack. I have 8 large azaleas about 5' in diameter.
Indian Hawthornes not looking too good either. I have 18 of these around the house. These are a bit green along the bottom too. I guess I should have tried covering all of my plants?
