RIP. Such a sad ordeal. Prayers to the family.

Emmanuel Acho
Acho has been making the rounds on TV promoting his recent book and by chance I have caught a few of the interviews. I know that he is trying to make a point but IMO, some of his examples about how he has been treated is some sort of humble-brag. The prime example that he refers to is that people say, "You are too smart to be black".

I am going superficial here, but do the people that are crying foul over the song even attend events, namely sporting, that this song is predominantly sung?

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
Before 10am not a problem. After 4pm begins to be an issue. However, I deal with a lot of international folks so I am always on Team calls at odd hours.

I wonder how many iterations it took to find that “perfect” drink for Mo? With 20 to 30 different ingredients how do you know if 3 pumps of vanilla is better than 2 or 4? Maybe having 6 pumps of vanilla may have taken this drink off the charts?! Just give me a regular coffee with a bit of milk and sugar to cut the bitterness.

Yellowstone? We were up there back in late October and you needed a Hubbell Telescope to see them they were so far off. Fortunately there were some of the "wolf spotters/chasers" that had some powerful scopes with them that they let us look through. Even then they were hard to see. but still...got to see'em. That and grizzly 399 and her cubs in the Tetons.

That is awesome that you have much of his stuff. Ensure that the uniform is properly stored as moths love wool! No matter the cleanliness of your house moths always show up!

Was this snake in the wild? If it is in Texas then it must be some type of rattler unless some idoit let an exotic viper loose.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
Fortunately my boss has already told me that I can work from wherever I want to as long as I have internet connection. He knows that I enjoy hiking, etc. and that I have a daughter and granddaughter that lives in Chapel Hill, NC so he has basically said that to go for it and work from wherever. Prior to Covid I was on the road 30%+ of the time anyway traveling domestically and internationally. With that said, I will probably go into the office one or two days a week just to catch up on the equipment that is being manufactured in the shop and to interface with those guys a bit more.

Wives and the Stupid Shit They Say/Do
No, the friend was a she. She came to the house. The ex is now on her 4th “serious” BF since divorce 4 years ago after almost 30 years of marriage. Menopause can jack you up it seems.

When daughter was a freshmen or so in high school she was babysitting our neighbor's daughter. The neighbor's had several inside dogs. The dogs got into a fight and in the ensuing melee of getting the child out of the way my daughter got nipped on her hand. I am outside working in the yard and I see my daughter calmly walking down the street holding her hand up and walking with the kid. We come inside so that I can clean it up and inspect the wound. The wife (now ex) sees it and freaks out. This is early afternoon. Ex: She needs to go to the hospital. Me: She will be fine. Daughter: It is fine mom. Throughout the day the ex constantly tells me that I should take the daughter to the hospital. Finally, to appease, her I agree. Me: Ok, I will take her to the hospital. Let's go. Ex: I cannot go because I am going to have dinner with a friend. Me: OK, never mind. I will take her myself. Get to the hospital and they ask what happened. Tell them she was bitten by a dog. Great. Now the law has to come to make a report since it was a dog bite. They have to come from the neighboring town where it happened. A solid hour plus wait. The cop shows up. We know him. He is one of two cops in our town at the time. After explaining the event and telling him not to worry about anything. Cop: Doesn't look too bad. Your mom make you come up here? Daughter and I: Yes.. Cop: Well, good luck. After more waiting. The doc comes in and inspects it. Doc: Who cleaned up your bite and bandaged it? Me: I did. Doc: You did a good job. It will not require stitches are anything. I will just bandage it back up and you will be good to go as it is not too bad. He did give her a sling so that she could rest her arm in it. After several hours away we are finally on our way home. The daughter and I scheme a plan. When we finally get home the ex is back. The daughter walks in gingerly and is expressing a lot of pain and discomfort and is complaining about having to wear a sling for a minimum of a week. Wife sees this and freaks out. Ex: I knew it was bad since you have been gone so long and she is in obvious pain. Me: If you knew it was so bad why didn't you take her earlier or drop your plans and go with us? You didn't even call us while we were away to check on her. Ex: (no words) Daughter and I could not keep the charade up any longer because we began to laugh. Ex not happy.- World War II History Thread
Perhaps your grandfather served with the Medical Officer that wore this uniform. He made it overseas in July 1944 and received a campaign star for Central Europe. He served in the Medical Detachment, 66th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division.- Trivial Things That Make You Surly
Depends on the height of the cubicles. The ones in our new complex will be about 4' high.- Trivial Things That Make You Surly
But, but, but, they "promote" communication and collaboration!!!!!! (as everyone wears headphones for privacy and/or locks themselves into the "buzzword" meeting spaces alone). There are going to be a lot of empty spaces in the new building since moving forward many people will opt to work from home.- Trivial Things That Make You Surly
In 2019 I spent 100 days on the road (domestically and internationally) mostly in front of customers and prospects. I really miss that aspect of my job. I have not been on a plane since March 5, 2020. All of my customer interface has been through Teams. I did make one driving trip to visit a mine just outside of Mesa, AZ late last summer. I have been working from home since March 2020. I have no intentions on going back to the office on a permanent basis. One of the major reasons is that we are building a new office complex that will predominately feature cubicles and doing away with offices. I have had a office with a door for 30 years! Few are happy about the new building.- The "Post a Picture You Took" thread

We had a smoking area at my high school for students. Unfortunately it was where the buses dropped students off. As a freshman I rode the bus to school and had to walk the gauntlet of smokers to get into the school. Nothing like a lot of smoke inhalation early in the morning! - Wives and the Stupid Shit They Say/Do
