I have graduated after 20 years
Pretty cool. I think most people's impressions of RTF was that it was some kind of blow-off. But at least in my day, roughly coinciding with the Minister of Culture's, anyone in actual RTF was sharp, worked pretty hard at it, and as I recall, had to exhibit some talent in the field(s), as well as academic chops, to succeed and graduate. It was a degree plan a lot entered and few completed.

Congrats, amigo. You didn't tell us it was RTF. Last time I checked that was a pretty rigorous and prestigious degree. On the issue of counseling. Seems you had a pretty good experience there and maybe that's a reflection of "the new UT." Back in my day, 80s-90s, such counseling appeared non-existent, at least until you got into upper division. But I kind of wonder if that was more a perception than reality. I'd guess that the vast, vast majority of students in those "open admissions" days never even attempted to engage any sort of counseling, but it might have been there nevertheless. Kind of like office hours for a 300-person class, the professor seemed shocked if someone actually showed up for something.

Trump’s America
This is fucking bizarre. Trademark applications have been filed for "Board of Peace" and "Board of Peace (and Logo). https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=76720938&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=76720939&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch It's not altogether unusual for a government entity to file for a trademark Registration. For example, TxDOT filed a registration for "Don't Mess With Texas." It is fairly unusual to do it this early in the existence of the applicant. This is something commercial, for-profit entities do, not government agencies/entities. Which is likely consistent with the Board of Peace, after all. Some other weirdness. The applicant is the USPTO itself, not some government agency, not Department of Commerce, or State, or Executive Office of the President. This is, of course, because the Board of Peace has no existence, as a private corporation, government agency, or anything else except the worm-eaten brain of teh Donald. It is, therefore, signed by John Squires, the Director of the USPTO. Weeeiiiirrrrrd. The application itself is weird too. It's filed on paper, when electronic/online filing has been established for 20 years plus. So much so that there's a dick fee for filing on paper, $500 on top of the regular fee of $350. It's been so long since I filed a TM application on paper, I don't recall the requirements exactly, but I think what was filed was of improper format. Embarrassing for the Director. Also, as is fairly obvious, "Board of Peace" is descriptive of . . . well . . . the board of peace. Hell, it might even be generic. So, this has a fairly small likelihood of being granted, ASSUMING of course, that the Administration doesn't strong-arm the office into granting it. I suspect that the Office is full of apolitical civil servants who may make a ruckus if they are strong-armed, but the chain-of-command is the chain-of-command. It's going to take some time for this to get processed and it's about half-likely or more that Trump abandons this little venture before it gets anywhere.

2026 Midterms ...
What Texas Tribune has to say. The Texas TribuneAllred slams Talarico for alleged “mediocre Black man” re...Allred also urged Democrats to vote for Talarico’s opponent, Jasmine Crockett. The former Dallas congressman was Talarico’s main rival in the Senate primary before dropping out the day Crockett entereNo one confirms Talarico said it. And while "mediocre white/black man" is very au courant among us, it really doesn't strike me as something he would say. Until it is confirmed that he actually said it, and that Jasmine herself confirmed he said it, I'm of the mind that shes a bit too much of a bomb-thrower. One could argue that a bomb-thrower is needed, but not one that engages in friendly fire.

Also, NIL rights are implicated in most music license deals, especially for commercials and political stuff. And that isn't handled by copyright at all. So, you deal with other than the band itself and songwriters at your peril, because they can still sue you for associating them with your product or political cause.

All Things Melania!!!
No it's not public domain. The rights organizations mostly don't grant packaged licenses to political campaigns, but an owner can opt to let them. Most don't. So, to do it correctly, the campaign would have to license it directly from the rights owner. I don't remember who owns the Stones' rights. Typically first its the record company, then the band buys out the record company, then they sell back for astronomical sum.

So, there's a foundation plan and excavation, but no plan for the structure. Doesn't sound even a little bit like a clusterfuck. Not at all.
