Blanche would be a fascinating case study. Before leaving Cadwalader to represent Trump, his resume was pretty bland and typical of a white-collar defense type lawyer. Some DOJ, some Biglaw private practice, nothing overtly political. No America First type gigs, no counsel to Tea Party congressmen, no clerkship with a political judge. Then he goes to defend Trump, which is risky as to reputation, but also payment and continued employment, see, e.g. Jim Trusty and the other motley assortment of lawyers Trump has been through. At minimum, he must be a consummate yes man. It was also revealed in the trials that he was a pretty uninspired advocate. Weird, ugly fuck Emil Bove overshadowed him at every turn. And now, here he is as DAG, maybe more powerful actually than Bondi. But also making probably 1/3 or less of what he made at Cadwalader and repping Trump, if he actually got paid. And whither any political future? I suppose he'll get some well-comped sinecure at some place like America First, but I think he'll exist in a power vacuum.
