Yall are insane. There will be nothing easy about beating a squad like Georgia. They spotted Alabama 28 points and still took the go ahead lead in the 4th on the road. I may be wrong, but I’m preparing for a heavy weight matchup.
OU is going to try to execute the same Lebby gameplan they came with last year, the same one Mississippi State deployed. Ball Control and desperately try to force turnovers. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a similar approach from every team we play from here on out. Just like how every Big12 team installed a triple high safety look for the Texas game. Our interior will be tested. We just got to get them off the field and make it rain early.
Vernon is an oiled up rattlesnake inside. I see him in the backfield often. He’s also held up decently in the run. If he can maintain his performance against the meat of our schedule, he might turn himself into an early day three draft pick or higher. His real value is getting after the passer though, he’s dangerous in known passing situations. Alfred is playing a bit out of position in my opinion, but he’s still a plus starter.
According to PFF, Rutgers has the highest rated LT, RG, C, LG, and RT in the country right now. They’re individually the highest rated players at their specific position.
I know he’s only had a handful of snaps, but I’ve been really impressed by Ryan Niblett. He might be the most physical back. I think he laid the heaviest hit last Saturday on a Michigan DE. When he carries the ball, he makes one cut, and then crashes into the hole.
Also someone needs to introduce the team to the rest of Boosie’s discography. They been jamming Set It Off since last fall. Boosies got at least a dozen songs that’ll make you want to beat somebody’s ass.
We don’t really play a decent team for over a month. We could really start building our depth up even more. I’d like to see a lot of our 2nd team offensive line. I’d also like to see some other guys emerge in the interior defensive line. Where is Jaray Bledsoe? It’d be nice if he could give us some closer interior pass rush snaps.
Fresno State played with a lot of physicality and aggression. They attacked everything behind the line. They also went after Will Johnson all night, and won most many of those matchups. The Michigan DTs were a problem all night, but they didn’t overwhelm the bulldogs. I think Texas goes with a traditional front with both Sorrell and Burke. Burke was the only dominant run stuffer on some of those back up units yesterday.
We can rush the passer. Somebody besides Collins needs to emerge as a run stopper though. I saw Broughton get his lunch money snatched by those CSU guards a couple times.
That team was loaded. Go watch our matchups with TCU in 2021 and 2022. Those were heavy weight SEC style games. Bijan and Zach Evans were running the shit out the ball. Patterson always had TCU stocked, what a dumb decision to let him go. Dykes just gave them a little offensive structure for a season, but he’s not nearly the developer or recruiter. They look like a Purdue roster right now.
Dykes is such a downgrade from Patterson. Stanford is better in the trenches. Patterson would have had some big ass dogs from Louisiana and Dallas all in the front seven. TCUs roster looks like an average Big12 team. They were always twitched up and full of NFL bodies under Patterson.
