  1. You get some Mensho?
  2. Don’t forget the trans Hamas belly dancers.
  3. To be clear, no hate on Ceritas - prob one of my top 3 Sonoma producers. California winemakers are in a rough spot right now and they will do what they need to do make money. One easy way is to take advantage of wealthy Texas vacationers. Happy to provide perspective on wineries , but having lived here long enough to remember when these things were free, I balk at a lot of what I see these days.
  4. I just checked and their tastings are $95/pp in downtown Healdsburg? That’s absurd. Fuck it, go around the corner and get some Raveneau at Maison if you want to spend that much. Wineries are in a weird place right now but if I’m spending more than $30 for a tasting it’s going to be outdoors or part of some meal experience.
  5. El Molino is awesome. Valley Swim is also nearby and another good easy lunch spot.
  6. Context of this issue is the County is trying to push for the state to streamline rebuilding like-for-like by exempting the county from the new state upzoning/development laws - in other words, a NIMBY push to prevent multi-family development.
  7. Yep, it’s a classic. Falls under the radar for tourists but it made the Pic’s Ten Best Restaurants for like a decade straight before they stopped the rankings.
  8. Igor died a few years ago. He still owned Checkpoint Charlie’s, but that place is a shithole. The laundromat was kind of a New Orleans things. Maple Leaf had one. My parents claim they did their laundry while James Booker played.
  9. No it literally was the Screech tweet. I’m not trying to be argumentative, just with most of this board being off twitter I think folks missed one of the funniest internet implosions in a while.
  10. lol no it was the Screech tweet. seriously. https://x.com/VivekGRamaswamy/status/1872312139945234507 Edit: Found it on Bluesky.
  11. Miss River doesn’t have a great bar situation, but Chemin a la Mer upstairs does.
  12. Do you like drum circles and fighting housing development?
  13. PG&E started ramping up with the major outages in Northern California after those bad 2018 fires. People were pissed, too, but to be fair, when the utilities are the causes of those major fires, it’s kind of a “fuck you” to the public to just shut their power off and pass on settlement fees through rate hikes instead of bothering to improve their infrastructure.
  14. Yes, you will be fine between St Charles and Mag. It gets a little seedy past Mag around the old St Thomas projects, but there’s not much sight-wise there anyways. Stop by Courtyard for a beer and Barrel Proof for a marg.
  15. They already do, though rarely.
  16. Central City gets extremely dicey about a block away from St Charles, so just head straight there at night. It’s gentrified quite a bit in the past decade but it was ground zero of the murder capital in the ‘90’s (Cash Money and No Limit ya heard) and I’ve never quite gotten over that.
  17. That sounds reasonable but that is not going to happen.
  18. Tipitina’s is my favorite venue on the planet, as my avatar suggests. WWOZ Livewire is all you need for what’s going on music-wise. After Tip’s, I like Maple Leaf (much smaller venue where many famous acts have had residencies) and Carrollton Station if going way uptown and Howlin’ Wolf in CBD. Used to like Chickie Wah Wah in Mid-City but they changed ownership a while back and idk how they are now. Frenchman is of course the easiest choice and doesn’t require a long car ride (dba and Blue Nile have the best acts), but it’s become Bourbon Street at night these days.
  19. No, not really. Obviously many intense places and positions, but a lot of folks with relatively chill jobs benefited from rapid RSU appreciation and/or liquidity events during the tech boom. Not so much nowadays, except for the janitors at Nvidia.
  20. As someone mentioned above, that’s just upper middle management at a tech company in the Bay Area.
  21. Newsom already suspended CEQA and CCC review for homes destroyed provided they are rebuilt in the same fashion.
  22. Can’t imagine how much labor and supply costs will skyrocket after this.
  23. The Zuckerbro transformation is quite the midlife crisis.
