filter was supposed to be the opener and i was excited about seeing them. didn't realize they dropped out until i arrived at the venue, so that didn't help.
reservations are open for the basin and lodge. have always wanted to stay in one of the cabins so i finally booked one for november...usually they're booked way far in advance.
hoping to find some last minute cheap tickets for the austin show. i want to see spoon but don't care about pixies, and $100 to see spoon from that shitty lawn is too much.
i found conversations with tom petty to be much better than the zanes book. the zanes book had the heroin reveal but that's about it.
shakey is a great neil young book.
saw jerry cantrell saturday night at emo's. played 6 or 7 aic songs and the rest were his solo stuff. wasn't sure what kind of crowd to expect but there were a lot of people there. it was good, not great. i didn't love his backing band.
really want to see them when they play COTA in november. there are a shit ton of tickets on the secondary market, counting on those tanking in price the weekend of the show.
anyone who went to UT in the early 00's has met at least 5 people who claim to be the reason for the 2 mex mart limit. also knew a guy who claimed he was banned from trudy's for inventing the mexican martini challenge...have 2 at each location in 1 night.
i particularly liked the sign on the APD interrogation room that said "quite please". really gives you the feeling they had the attention to detail to crack the case.
you have to buy a ticket to drink at the inside bar now? wtf. the last couple times i've been to a concert at scoot the volume has been waaaay too quiet.
just read about how their bassist was an AIDS denier in the early 2000's and they played an anti-AIDS benefit. weird. doesn't change my opinion on their music but it's funny in the same way that the deftones' guitarist being a flat earther is funny.
Responding to coverage of the Alive & Well benefit in Mother Jones magazine, Mendel wrote, "I am not a medical professional, and I am relatively new to these questions, but I am convinced that those who have tested HIV positive and those sick with AIDS are being done a disservice by not having all the information available to them."[21] Links and references to Alive & Well were removed from the band's website by March 2003.[22]
