  2. I legit think it might be ego about his scheme. Given their allocation of "NIL" funds, it's clear he values dline. The only thing I can come up with about clearly undervaluing oline is that he believes his scheme can work without superstar oline. If there's anything Jimbo has proven in his time at aggy, it's a stubborn belief that his scheme is what they need to win despite ample evidence to the contrary. It just feels like the guy has tunnel vision on everything with his offense outside of that cheesecake factory menu playbook.
  3. The fact that Billy "nothing to see here" Luicci and Texags is scrubbing the posts kind of confirms it for me.
  4. If Johnson is named the permanent starter this season, one of the aggy threads needs a rename to "full gorth Johnson."
  5. Next year, it would be 5 sec and 5 big 10. If anyone has questions about whether college football is going to start looking a lot more like the AFC and NFC...
  6. Reads the entire press conference thread...
  7. At least against Auburn I thought he looked better. Weigman may be talented, but he still looks a little shell shocked and didn't seem to see the field well. Johnson's experience at least showed in that suddenly there were a lot more open guys than there had been with Weigman. Now, I hope he looks awful going forward, but any aggy excuses about the dropoff going to the backup are going to be pretty hard to defend based on the Auburn game.
  8. I haven't watched them but have seen the scores. I was curious also and found a fairly in depth write up on them this season if you're interested. Spoilering here to save you the click:

A guy who looks like Ryan Day should probably avoid using the phrase "I love these kids" so emphatically.
  10. It honestly would not matter. Auburn is one of the worst P5 teams I've ever seen, particularly on offense.
  11. Lots of discussion in this thread about what an strange cat Aranda seems to be, in that "why do you appreciate everything so much" and "is he an average guy or a closet axe murderer" kind of way. I've always enjoyed coaches who are outside of the normal mold and seem like they have no business in the profession. That said, this guy comes across as equally ill fitted to college coaching as Mike Leach, only without any of the interesting or endearing qualities. Not hard to imagine why he struggles to get a team fired up and build a culture. I nearly fell asleep listening to him talk about likely the biggest game he'll play this season.
  12. If tech started putting "Texas Raiders" on their uniforms, aggy would mock them without a hint of irony.
  13. "We never have nor will we ever get a fair shake from the liberal media" - Texags after ESPN cut away from the last four minutes of their blowout win over ULM
  14. [Tex] South Alabama is probably better than tu this year [/ags]
  15. I didn't even post mine to doxx him (it's relatively easy to find if you search him). I'm simply not surprised a Nebraska resident might want to see Texas lose.
  16. I was today years old when I learned that Big 12 referee Kevin Mar, lover of Texas football, is a resident of Omaha Nebraska.
  17. I'm pretty sure this was actually it. Just trying them out to see if the lights would eventually come on, knowing their defense could beat usf. Still incredible to see Bama looking for answers in game 3 at the must critical position on the field.
  18. Here's a alternate theory on why he didn't play vs usf: they know this is the only way, and are trying to limit the hits he takes until conference play. Maybe that's too far fetched, but I can't come up with any other rational reason for why he sat on the bench Saturday while "tweedle dee" and "tweedle how in the fuck am I a scholarship quarterback at Alabama" split reps.
  19. Hell, he's already on staff. Just promote from within for continuity.
  20. The worst part is, this might be the Big 12's last chance for a minute to have someone in the final 4 of the playoffs (yes, they'll get someone in the expanded playoff, but not to the final 4 any time soon). I hate to say it, but OU looks like they've turned things around and are at least respectable this year instead of the joke they were in year one under Venables. Texas and OU look like the only two teams in the league capable of making national noise. Maybe BYU. The league's effort to ensure those two teams are not in the ccg is just going to fuck over the conference. Sure, everyone benefits if a conference member makes the playoffs, but at least we'll stick it to big bad Texas and OU. Great job, guys.
  21. This was honestly the most annoying part of the night. Offense struggling to find rhythm? Wonder if the stoppage of play every time we started to establish any, usually for some bullshit discussion that had no impact on the game, might have something to do with that. I hope CDC is at least trying to take this stuff to the big 12. Not that I expect mr "tech better take care of business" to do anything.
  22. This will be another interesting season to compare penalty stats in vs out of conference. The idea that Alabama had more holding penalties against our dline than Wyoming is... something. And keep in mind that the common refrain in the sec is that Bama gets protected by their refs. Fuck the big 12.
  23. To be fair, Lowell is a douchenozzle.
