If Evans is really going to choose aggy, he played it perfectly. I can't imagine anything that will get an NIL deal done faster with those rubes than a potential high profile flip to the sips.
I have zero actual information on this, but if he stays, I would imagine his offer increased significantly in the last 24 hrs with all the noise about Texas.
This kind of talk is exactly why he's struggling in recruiting (both players and coaches).
It's clear aggy needs to make a strong statement of confidence in and support for Elko...in the form of an extension.
It is amazing that his last login to this site is 9/9, or the same might Miami defeated the fighting Jimbos and we did the impossible in Tuscaloosa.
He went into hiding faster than @NowThis after that.
It's impressive how they've figured out a way to perpetually have a young/inexperienced team in a new system so that next year can always be the year. Very on brand for them.
Good Lord most of this thread is a beating. I lived in Seattle for several years and have some close UW friends who would be embarrassed this is the best they're bringing to our board. Really shit effort overall.
I expect UW will be the hardest matchup we've had this year. I'm not sure as a team they're better than Bama, but in terms of where we're most vulnerable they'll present the biggest challenge we've faced. They have excellent coaching and skill position players, with a month to scout and prepare just like us.
These UW fans showing up like we don't understand/believe they'll be good are fucking dumb. It's the fucking playoffs, everyone will be good. That's what makes it exciting.
I haven't been this amped for a game for a long time. Glad we have a few more weeks of (hopefully) substantive football discussion leading up to the game.
They didn't, and Billy knows they didn't.
He also knows that his members are simpletons who will hear him say that, look at the final score being close, and accept it as truth.
In a world where all you sacrifice is time and a roster spot, this entirely makes sense.
I think the issue with Nolen is that it has been said here that he'll be looking for a LOT of NIL wherever he goes. That both is a bad look within the team, if a lazy, low-effort guy is getting paid, but also ties up funds from other priorities.
You can take a high talent risk/project, but I'm not sure you can take an expensive one.
"Hey coach Elko, I'd really like to spend some time with the guys who we'll be returning on dline next season, where are they at?"
"Son, have I ever shown you our campus chapel? Let's go look at that right now because you're just going to love it."
It must suck for Billy that they hired Klein for OC immediately after Petrino.
Given their difference in age/experience he must have had to do a little more customization to his find/replace name coordinator hire announcement template.
"Rising star" was a predictable, lazy choice for whatever "seasoned veteran" descriptor I'm sure he used for Bobby.
To be clear, I'm not saying he's a good choice for them because he did well against us.
I'm saying that they likely chose their OC based on his output in one game against us, just like they spent >$90 million firing a coach bc they were scared of losing to us next year. Shit, Tarp has even admitted that, which is fucking amazing.
I just realized that KState scored the 2nd most points on our defense of all of the teams we faced.
If you don't think that stat was the start and end of selecting him as a candidate, you're not paying attention.
You're assuming aggy is making rational rather than emotional decisions. You're asking the question assuming they're not blowing way more than they can afford to re-up him, and that they won't pay the price by not having enough for other needs.
If you assume that they'd spend whatever they have to spend in order not to be mocked for losing him, it starts to make more sense.
Came to post exactly this. I believe CTJ posted yesterday that Nolen would be asking for a big payday, and his production doesn't really match the ask. He has the talent, but doesn't really seem to give a shit, assuming he even plays.
This feels like the perfect combination of him likely not receiving the level of interest he had hoped for and aggy feeling like they can't take another ego hit right now. I wonder how much of a raise aggy gave him bidding against themselves.
Hasn't Bjork straight up said something along the lines of they'll "figure out" how to make Jimbo's yearly buy out payments from the athletic budget?
The easy answer is, they're managing their finances just like many other aggy grads we know. Keep buying shit on credit and "figure out" how to pay for it later.
Billy Luicci has made a living shoveling the shit aggy wants to hear at them. Do you think other media isn't going to pick up on that playbook?
aggy aren't really the type for honest, critical assessments. They will frequent whatever outlet tells the most optimistic story about the state of their program. Everything else is bomc, clearly.
I mean, I have zero connection to arch or any sororities at UT (sadly), and I could have told you that the soon to be star quarterback from a famous family is doing just fine with the college ladies.
