  1. If you want us to play every game and win you can't possibly want Herman to come back.
  2. Yeah, agree. I meant the only way we'd hear positive news, but there's no reason we couldn't hear negative news. That takes us back to no news is good news today.
  3. It's funny, they really didn't ask him that, even though if you're paying attention they did. I bet a good portion of the audience who only casually follow cfb completely missed what actually happened in that exchange. All they really asked him was if he'd pick Austin as a great college town. There was significantly more implied, and that was obvious from all of their reactions, but he still wasn't directly asked about it. I'm not sure they'd go that far.
  4. The only way news could leak earlier, imo, is if this will be set up that Herman is leaving for another job. I could see that coming in a press release, with Herman still coaching ksu, but with that being his last game. I think chances of that happening are very, very, very slim, but there have been rumors that both scar and vandy are interested, and if we've negotiated a buyout with a soft landing that doesn't seem quite as bad to announce before a game. If he's going to be fired, zero chance the announcement happens before ksu at this point. Remember, if the squid man is to be believed, he said three more sunsets yesterday. That would mean either Saturday for Herman and Sunday for Meyer, Sunday for both, or possibly Sunday for Herman and Monday for Meyer.
  5. Does that mean we have to talk about weather here today? Personally I think burgers, Texas cities, crypto currencies, and potato chips are all more fun.
  6. Hey, I hear you. Unfortunately I grew up with Cristobal and just talked to him and he said this is a bunch of shit. Just saying what I know.
  7. In these times of uncertainty, the posters who joined 24 hrs ago and have less than 20 posts are generally the most legit.
  8. The feather could be a pen, but considering he posted it in reply to the osu insider, the interpretation that buckeyes will eat crow in 3 days makes a lot of sense.
  9. Personally I'm viewing some of these opt outs as a reaction that they're not interested in finishing the season playing for a staff who they already know will be fired.
  10. No matter how this damn coaching search ends, the whole thing was worth it for inspiring this masterpiece.
  11. You believe that after we hire a generational talent at head coach, all of our good players will hit the portal and no talented recruits or transfers will look our way? Ok.
  12. This was my interpretation when I first read the tweet, and that was before curtaingate. Feels like he's saying flight into horseshoe Bay, golf, and hook'em. I don't understand the crazy squid man, but I want to believe.
  13. I'm mostly gauging whether any news has broken by how quickly posts are accumulating as I scroll to catch up. If I'm reading faster than new posts are appearing, no real news has been released.
  14. But then how will you know that it's still a coin flip and the ball is in Urban's court???
  15. It's not so weird if you understand retargeting...
  16. On tapa, all I'm getting in this thread are ads for Kendra Scott, and it's making me laugh every time.
  17. Which 9.95er was it who bet his paycheck that Urban would be our next coach? Ketch? If it doesn't happen, at least there's that.
  18. If it's not Urban, it won't matter if we keep Tom or bring in a new underwhelming hire. 10 years is plenty of patience. We either make the moves necessary to land the big changes, or I suspect a significant portion of our base is out for a while.
  19. How else are we supposed to hear about how great Sunday practice was?
  20. If it's true he has $10m/year for assistants, I doubt much of our offensive staff remains.
  21. Either way, that's a tough ooc run for a new coach to step into. I don't think Meyer is the type to be deterred by facing great teams, though, so I'd stand by my pov regardless.
  22. Well, shit. In his post he said given who we play in 2025, so I just assumed that's when the upcoming series started. Yeah, a year away isn't ideal, but I still don't think that would be a reason he wouldn't come. Pretty much any coach who comes here right now will know that first game is a tough hill to climb, and more likely hope to have us competitive by the second game in the series. Who's in 25, then? Is that the Bama series?
  23. Me: You don't miserably fail coaching college ball and expect the NFL to come calling. NFL:
  24. A guy like Meyer isn't going to hesitate because we play ohio state in 4 years. The transfer portal will basically be a free for all in 2021 and a Meyer led Texas will be beneficiaries. That gives him access to a lot of talent and multiple recruiting classes + 4 years time. Said another way, if Meyer doesn't think he can make us competitive with osu in 4 years, why would he come? A coach at his level should make a team "his" by year 4. Nowhere else that Meyer has coached have his teams not been competing at the highest level by year 4. I have zero concern this would be a reason he'd hesitate, as it just doesn't make sense given his background. Guys like Meyer will come to places like Texas because they believe that with the built in advantages and their abilities they can build a team who can compete with anyone in the country in four years.
