  1. I'm not saying they were world beaters, I'm just saying I think your read on Rhule's results there lacks important context. What Rhule did with that team given the situation he walked into is really damn impressive. Most college coaches don't get called up to the NFL, and Rhule was for a reason. Time will tell if he can make it there or not, but he did enough to earn the opportunity and left Baylor in a much better place than when he walked in.
  2. At the height of some of our better seasons I remember laughing at texags declaring that we were overrated and how they'd wipe the floor with us. So I won't do that. They're having a good season. After the schedule shake up and player opt outs I thought they'd crater. That Florida win looks better than I thought it was at the time. I think they're getting the sec treatment in the rankings but their record is pretty strong, with the win over Florida and the only loss to Bama (and what a loss it was). South Carolina isn't good, but that was an epic beat down. The only silver lining I can find is that it should help our urgency to make the right next move. The contract aggy gave Jimbo was beyond insane, but at least they're starting to see results. Maybe he didn't just go there to pad his retirement after all. They took a big risk and appear to be seeing some returns. We have a chance to make a much less risky move and quickly close the gap. Will we do it?
  3. It's not the thread we need, but the thread we deserve.
  4. Are you really skeptical because Baylor got rolled by Georgia? They're fucking Baylor. Rhule took over a program no one wanted to touch. They were an absolute lost cause. You should be focusing on the fact that he got them to a bowl with Georgia rather than that he lost. There's a reason he was offered those millions in the nfl. Rhule can coach.
  5. Porta potty girl's cousin texted me that Urban was planning to say yes today, but after checking out this thread he intends to decline in order to spare futureman's ass.
  6. If you think that's a new low, you didn't watch the tcu game.
  7. I think I read up thread that acc has no divisions this season so it could still be Clemson and nd. That said, assuming Lawrence can come back, they really shouldn't be punished for this game. They played them down to the wire while missing probably the best player in cfb. I'd love to see the rematch with Clemson way full speed. Would be another great game.

Kirby Smart is a more extreme version of early 2000s Mack Brown. He recruits absolutely lights out but you wouldn't know it by his teams performance in the biggest games. If he can keep recruiting like this he'll eventually field a team that's just too talented in too many places to lose, but recruiting will dry up eventually if they keep playing this way in big games. Georgia fans have to be livid about Fields. He already had the qb he needed to win it all, and let him transfer away to keep Jake Fromm happy. Ouch.
  9. Offense looked like shit. That was actually a pretty good defensive performance. Not perfect, but good enough to win comfortably with a competent offense.
  10. Something something, ruling your mom's every deep crevasse.
  11. Anyone thinking USC isn't a damn appealing job is fooling themselves. They're a coaching hire away from being in the yearly playoff discussion. What would make Texas more attractive at the moment is: 1) Our job opening is more probable. Helton could have a good season. 2) Alignment from decision influencers/makers. Didn't SC's president deny they'd hire Meyer? Seems like an us with Saban situation, and we know how that ended. 3) Roster. Our recruiting classes have actually been good, in terms of classes impacting ability to win quickly. USC was 20th in 2019, 64th for 2020. Yes, their 19 class should've included McCoy and ours shouldn't, so numbers are skewed, but still. And that 20 class is just horrifying. The rest would have to be a wash. Money, prestige, difficulty of schedule, recruiting ground, etc, I'd argue there's no clear advantage one way or the other. Timing is one of our biggest benefits here and hopefully we use that and lock him up before the SC job opens (if it's going to).
  12. I'm with you all the way up to it's happening. What I believe is that we're aligned and our side will do everything we can to make it happen. Ultimately the call is his whether Texas is where he wants to jump back into coaching. That's what I'm waiting to see. It was a big hurdle for us to get our shit together and pursue correctly, which from what I've read I believe we did. That's big. But it's still his choice and he could still tell us no. I hope not, but until it's official it's a possibility.
  13. I do think he's probably a troll, but disagree on the ou part. I read that thread differently. If he's an ou troll, it's a long job. He has pro Texas stuff in his feed going back to August. Troll seems likely, but nothing in his past posting suggests anything other than a Texas fan. The whole thing is bizarre.
  14. He certainly seems like he could be a troll, where are you getting ou?

Just a reminder that we had him dropping into coverage last year instead of playing on the line.
  16. Yeah, I saw this as well, but couldn't find it again.
  17. Posted about Ewers before it happened, so seemed possibly legit. Posted some more cryptic shit that seemed to hint towards Urban for a few days following. Now has probably overplayed his hand and seems most likely a troll who just guessed on Ewers based on the smoke that was already out there.
  18. I didn't read any of this shit, but that's a lot of words for someone who has already stated they don't really care about this topic. Which was my point.
  19. They also had a kinda talented dlineman. If you're an underdog team, having your best players at qb and dline doesn't hurt.
  20. Your comparison is mindnumbingly dumb, but ignoring that for a moment... Are you saying if we're throwing ethics out the window we should pursue Briles over Meyer? How does that work? Even if the horrible comparison you were trying to make was accurate, wouldn't the better answer still be to hire Meyer? If so...what's your point?
  21. You've got him all wrong. He has clearly and explicitly stated that he does not care about Meyer and whether he comes to UT. He doesn't care so much, that he keeps coming back to this thread and assuring us that Meyer won't come here. He's obviously doing that, on a nearly daily basis, just to prove to us how much he doesn't care about Meyer and whether he'll come here. We just can't seem to keep up.
  22. aggy for sure. Everyone should ignore. We started losing games and recruits, so of course they're coming out of the woodwork.
